Titan Staff News
Week of September 12
Titans,
I had the honor of hearing our Superintendent, Dr. Warren, address the District Leadership Team today. He spent a great deal of his time sharing his expectations for building a positive culture in our community and campuses. I feel very strongly that we have a strong, positive, family culture here at Tidwell. However, I'd like to challenge your thinking. According to Dr. Warren, each action and decision we make either drives us closer to building a healthy culture or moves us into a toxic culture. (such a strong word, I know!) As you move through your week...in your interactions with students, parents, each other....in your comments in the community...in your daily walk.....I challenge you to reflect on your words and actions. Are you building Tidwell's healthy culture?
Dr. Warren specifically addressed our culture as it related to student achievement. Do we have an unwavering belief that ALL students can learn? And ALL means ALL. How are you, your colleagues and your teams building that culture?
I am challenge alongside you and look forward to showcasing the healthy culture of Tidwell!
Have a good weekend,
Kim

Important Information
- Thank YOU for an outstanding Fall Open House! I had many parents stop me and brag on the awesome teachers of Tidwell. Well done, Titans! #proudprincipal
- The Middle School Musical, The Lion King, debuts this week. A big SHOUT OUT to our very own Craig Robertson for his leadership and directing skills in this performance!
- Please do NOT unplug the computer components attached to any of our scanners in the workrooms. They are not compatible with the docking stations we have in the workrooms for floating teachers.
- As you place your lesson plans in your Google folders, please title your plans by either week or date. Thank you!
- Parent Conferences Nights have been set: We will host parent conferences on both October 10th and 17th from 4:30-7:30. Staff meals will be provided both evenings. In order to meet the criteria for obtaining Flex Day requirements, staff must be present during both evenings. If you have questions, please come chat with me.
- We have updated our RTI referral form for the 16-17 school year. If you have a student who is exhibiting academic or behavioral concerns beyond the 'typical' classroom concerns, please utilize the link to refer that student for the RTI process. You will find last year's RTI forms in Aware for each student. For 6th graders, Pawksi has the elementary RTI folders. Please note the RTI referral begins AFTER you have exhausted (and documented) all Tier 1 interventions in the classroom setting.
SBBBBBBBBBBBBBsssss
As you prepare for the first of your 4 Standards Based Bulletin Boards....
Do the work samples posted on the board reflect the campus demographic make up? Or does one demographic dominate the work samples?
Are the work samples reflective of students who "got it" quickly or students who may have needed supports to master the standard?
This week we meet in Content Specific PLC to review our Action Plans.
September 12 - How do we move from silos of excellence to a culture of shared excellence?
Task: Review your PLCs Action Plan as created during Professional Development Week.
What are your next steps for action? How will you continue to monitor your student achievement and progress as it relates to this Action Plan? How does this support the campus Problem of Practice.
