Lansing Elementary Weekly Update
Newsletter for the Lansing Elementary School Family
April 17, 2020
As we are ending another week of our continuous learning plan, I continue to hear awesome stories about collaboration and connection in our community! Our teachers have been learning about opportunities to bring Surprise & Delight to the culture of our school, to our classrooms and to our community! Surprise & Delight is anything that brings positivity, excitement, wonder, and engagement to our learning opportunities.
Examples of Surprise & Delight include both KC Wolf and Slugger visiting some of our classrooms via Zoom. Officer French engaged in learning with some of our 3rd grade students and best-selling author and professional motivational speak Jon Gordon as well as Vice Chair of the Kansas state board of education, Janet Waugh, surprised our staff at our weekly meeting. I've even heard of some students making signs or cards for their teachers to bring Surprise & Delight from their home to teacher! These are just a sampling of some of our opportunities to build a positive and productive school climate and culture.
We hope you and your family are all well and managing the current stay-at-home orders. For all of our families that have essential workers-thank you for all you do during this challenging time. If your current family circumstances prevents your child from participating in our continuous learning plan, please take time to communicate with your child's teacher. It is most important to us that we are connected and communicating with all of our families on a regular basis.
Best Wishes for a wonderful week!

Parent Input for Class Placement for in-coming Kindergartener 2020-2021 school year
Please access the Google Form below to provide input for your child's class placement for the 2020-2021 school year. We ask that your refrain from naming or picking a specific teacher for your child, but instead offer qualities of the teacher that will best be suited to your child's personality and learning style. Requests for specific teachers, by name, cannot be accepted.
A tremendous amount of time and effort will go into the planning and formation of class placement by teams of both classroom teachers and support personnel. Your input will be considered along with the input of staff members. We will do our best to consider the unique needs, personality traits and learning style of every student. Thank you for taking the time to provide input for your child's class placement for the 2020-2021 school year!
