Happening this week...
After Spring Break we have only 7 instructional weeks until the STAAR test. Please be sure students are coming to school with a charged Chromebook and appropriate writing tools. It is important to make the most of each day.

Accelerated Science ~ Mrs. Irons
This week we will complete our Mock STAAR Science. We will also begin our one week study of Human Body Systems. Students will be assigned a booklet about the body systems that will be due Monday, March 27.
Monday - Complete questions 21-44 of Mock STAAR

Wednesday - Excretory and Digestive Systems

This week, students will determine solutions for problems involving the area of rectangles, parallelograms, trapezoids, and triangles and volume of right rectangular prisms. We will also model area formulas for parallelograms, trapezoids, and triangles by decomposing and rearranging parts of these shapes.
There will be a test over Unit 5 on Thursday, March 30th. We will review in class next week.
STEAM Math ~ Mrs. Justice

In Academic Lab, students will work through problems using the properties of operations: inverse, identity, commutative, associative, and distributive properties. On Monday, students will complete a pre-assessment to see what their previous knowledge of the content is. Tuesday and Wednesday, students will complete fun and engaging activities to review the skill. Thursday students will take a post-assessment to see how much growth they made throughout the week.
Accelerated Math ~ Mrs. Fisher
We will continue reviewing for the STAAR test which will take place on Thursday, March 30.
Please remember to take advantage of after school tutoring and STEAM-U times as needed.
Students will only have one administration of this STAAR test.
Humanities ~ Mrs. Moore, Ms. Lindamood, and Mrs. Strother
- We will begin our in class novel A Long Walk to Water in which we will focus on inference skills and context clues.
- Students will study current social, political, and economic events causing disruption in Africa.
- Intervention this week will focus on a review of test taking skills.
Art ~ Mrs. Beam
This week we will be working on our Pixel Paintings. We will begin our final paintings and work on our color mixing techniques.
Beginning Band ~ Mr. Sypert
We continue to prepare for our spring contest at iTZ on April 25th. Also remember that our Spring Concert will be at CHS on May 18th!
