Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. - Psalm 73:23
Enjoy your week off! We will not be meeting this Tuesday!
Thank you for the love and concern you have shown the Hibbets family. It has been sweet to see God moving in and through them during this time. If you have been following Aleecia's facebook page then you too have seen the love they have been surrounded by. They will be returning from Louisiana this week. Her friend is setting up a meal calendar for them. I will send the link once I get it. Let's continue to surround them with our love these next weeks and months.
This week in math memory work, your students will learn the formula for calculating
the area of a square. While it may seem strange to have your young child chanting about
pi and radius, this is important preparation for higher math. The human mind is not
designed to learn new vocabulary and formulas, apply them, and understand why they
are true all at the same time. Too many times, high school students struggle in geometry because they didn’t have a sound foundation. If they memorize important formulas at a
young age, they will be ready to apply them in the dialectic stage and prove that they are true at the rhetoric stage.
Keep working on drawing and tracing those maps. We are at....614!

Map Pizza Party and Market Day
Market Day is a time when our children get to show their entrepreneurial skills. They make something to sell to their friends. Last year children made cookies, brownies, marshmallow guns, beaded necklaces, bracelets, bookmarks, paper airplanes and duck tape wallets to name a few. We will set up tables and let the children sell their items during the lunch hour. Parents can sit with them and help them sell and make change. There is so much we can teach them through this activity: marketing, budgeting, doing your best, etc. It is a fun time and the kids have a blast making things and selling them to their friends. It is a good idea to keep items in the $1 to $3 price range. Start thinking of what you want to sell and send me a list (we want to try not to duplicate items).

Open Houses and Informational Meetings
Our next Open House is Tuesday, March 8th from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.
We will have an Information Meeting from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. I highly encourage visitors to stay for the Information Meeting so they can understand the "why" behind what they observe that morning. If they just attend the Open House and do not go to an Information Meeting then they may not understand the philosophy of Classical Education and Classical Conversations. So if you invite friends and family to attend an Open House please stay with them for the Informational Meeting. They are more likely to stay if you do! Also let them know they can bring lunch and eat with us that day.
Children are welcome at the Open House! I will have enough art and science supplies ready. If you have friends that are planning to attend the Open House please let me know how many children to prepare for. I don't want to run out of Art Supplies for them.

Science Project: Growing Crystals
Here is a link to how to grow crystals with Borax (this is what we used on community day). You don't need to boil the water. Putting water in the microwave will also work. It just needs to be hot.
