Principal Post
Hello Patriots!
We made it! We have had an outstanding first nine weeks of school! Our students are happy and acclimated to Liberty Bell. We have almost finished an entire Fall Sports Season. Our Clubs and Tutoring for students are up and running! AND....our kids have experienced a rich and engaging nine weeks of learning!
This week is Checkpoint Week! Please make sure your child gets a good night's rest and eats a good breakfast tomorrow morning! This week is our students' time to shine with Checkpoints! They have worked hard and the results of the checkpoints help us know what students mastered and what students need more support with in the future. Their job is to just do their best!
We have an exciting week ahead! Our Beta Club induction is Tuesday at 6:00, our Girls Soccer team faces ITIS in the Championship game this Wednesday and our football team faces ITIS this Thursday. We will be the home team. We will have a pep rally this Thursday. For the pep rally, we would like all sixth graders to wear WHITE, all seventh graders to wear GOLD and for all eighth graders to wear Maroon! The SPIRIT STICK IS UP FOR GRABS!
We are finishing STRONG and this will lead us right into FALL BREAK which is WELL DESERVED!
We appreciate your support and encouragement so much! We know how much our work matters and we take our jobs very seriously! It means so much to us knowing that we have such supportive families!

Johnson City Schools launches STOPit App to empower and protect students
Johnson City Schools has enrolled with STOPit, the leading technology platform for schools that deters and controls harmful or inappropriate conduct. STOPit empowers students with an easy app to safely and anonymously report anything of concern to school officials – from cyberbullying to threats of violence or self-harm. STOPit empowers students to stand up for themselves and others while giving our schools the insight we need to keep students safe. Students can download the App from the Apple Store or Google play store on their mobile device and then search for their Johnson City School. While the reports are anonymous, there will be severe consequences for anyone who is found to have made a false report.
“We are excited to be able to provide this additional resource for our students,” Johnson City Schools Supervisor of Safety and Mental Health Greg Wallace said. “This will be another means of support for our students, especially those who are facing mental health issues. This will provide them with a 24/7 resource with a live person. This is just another measure we are taking to help our students and ensure our families that we take all threats and mental health issues seriously.”
With STOPit, students can submit anonymous reports containing text, photos, or video. Administrators are then able to manage incidents in a backend management system called STOPit Admin. STOPit Admin provides efficient and powerful investigative tools to our staff, including the ability to message with the reporter, which will allow us to address issues instantly.
STOPit does more than just help schools address incidents and mitigate risk. STOPit will also help us go beyond reacting to bullying and inappropriate behavior, and instead start deterring it. As young people continue to engage more with technology every day, we are taking a proactive step to empower our students to become upstanders in our community in the way that they feel most comfortable. We believe our adoption of STOPit is an important step in our continued effort to provide a positive school climate and a safe learning environment for our students.
More information and tutorial videos about the STOPit App are available at www.jcschools.org/STOPit.
Beta Club Induction
Johnson City Beta Club will hold its induction ceremony at Liberty Bell gym starting at 6pm on Tuesday October 4. All new members of Beta club are invited to attend with any guests that they want to bring for the ceremony as they take the Beta club pledge and are inducted as new members. Returning Beta club students are asked to attend to support the new inductees and to help throughout the ceremony. Please email Mr. Johns, Mrs. Reynolds, Mrs. Losh with any questions or concerns.
Beta club will stay after school on Thursday October 6 to decorate the teacher relaxation lounge and deliver the items that were donated. Students can earn one hour of service for staying after and participating in this project. A google form will be sent to students to reserve their space for this project. We will limit the number of volunteers to the first 20 students who respond to the google form. Items can be donated for 1 hour of service until October 4. Donated items must have the students name clearly on the marked and be delivered to Mr. Johns' room to receive credit.
