Stop Talking

  • Listening skills are VERY important in communication.
  • You have to listen and stop talking to be able to understand things.
  • We have two ears and one mouth, so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.

Practice Active Listening

  • Focus and understand what the person is saying, instead of just hearing what they are saying.
  • Ignore any distractions around you that will keep you from understanding someone.

Identify Areas of Conusion

  • Do not interrupt someone who is talking.
  • Write down any question that you have for that person.
  • Wait until someone is done talking before you ask them a question. *You never know if they will answer your question while they are talking.
