Rockfield Elementary Before-School

February Newsletter

A Word from the Supervisor

Parents,

We hope everyone has had a great second half of the school year so far. Just a reminder that if school is delayed for any reason there will be no before-school program for that day. As usual, if anyone would like us to work on spelling words or other homework with your children in the mornings, please let us know and we will be happy to help! If there is a book fair taking place in the library, the before-school program will be located on the opposite side of the library from the usual location. We hope everyone has a great month!

Thank you,

Ms. Sydney

Spellabration is tonight!

Community Education's 11th annual Spellabration will take place tonight at Sloan Convention Center. All money raised at the event, which has been described by past participants as a party with an adult spelling bee in the middle, supports our after-school and other programs.

Want to join in the fun? Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger. Admission includes heavy hors d’oeuvres and the chance to browse and bid on the event’s silent auction. Auction items include weekend getaways to Nashville, Louisville, Evansville, and the Paducah area, as well as various items donated by local businesses. We also have four day-hopper passes to Disneyworld! Come join the fun!

Early School Closing Policy Reminder

If your child’s school closes two or more hours early due to bad weather or other issues, Community Education will NOT provide care that day, as the majority of our staff attend classes at WKU and cannot get to the site that early. Full afternoon care will be provided if your child’s school closes less than two hours early.

Lil’ Angels Attic spring sale

This year’s Lil’ Angels Attic spring sale will take place March 4-5 at Broadway United Methodist Church, 1322 Melrose St. Since 2002, the organization has donated more than $500,000 from its profits in cash and merchandise to local ministries and charities, including Community Education! The donations we received have gone directly to purchase radios we use at the school age programs. Those donations have helped us maintain the low monthly cost to parents. For more, visitwww.lilangelsattic.org.

Snow Day Program Available

*Pre-registration is REQUIRED.*
