From the Principal's Desk
This week we wrapped up our Illinois Assessment of Readiness for our students in grades 3-5, we will have a few students making up tests but most are completed. In the next few weeks we will have all students participate in our district local assessment, this is iReady. Below is an attached letter from the assessment office which gives more details regarding this assessment and the tool we have used this year. Students should be encouraged to take their time, most of our classes will be taking it the week after next on May 11-13. Each student has an individual growth goal and stretch goal, our hope is that they will demonstrate all that they have learned this year by taking their time. Thank you for supporting them by having them get a good nights rest, eating a good breakfast and reminding them to try their best.
In addition next week we will have our SEL screener window open, students in grades 2-5 will answer this brief questionnaire in class. Please see the letter below to get further clarification of this tool.
Finally, although our school year is wrapping up in the next month, there are opportunities to ensure your child continues to learn and grow. Below is a flyer for summer camp provided by D303 at Davis. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to continue to engage in wonderful learning experiences. The deadline for registration is May 21, please consider these options. There are also wonderful opportunities for our local library and park district. Look for more information in upcoming bulletins.

JOIN THE ORCHESTRA!
All students entering 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade next fall are welcome to participate in the elementary string program. Our goal is to provide meaningful learning experiences in music and develop individual student achievement and appreciation of music. The elementary instrumental music program also provides excellent preparation for the middle school and high school bands and orchestras.
There are four string instruments for students to choose from. Click on these links to learn more about each instrument.
Orchestra Parent Information Virtual Meeting
If you are interested in enrolling your child in orchestra for the 2021-2022 school year, please attend one of our Orchestra New Parent (Virtual) Information Meetings. You will hear more about our D303 Orchestra program, and have a chance to ask any questions you may have. For your convenience, one of the D303 preferred instrument rental vendors will be at each meeting to assist you with renting an instrument. At the end of the presentation, there will be breakout rooms so that we can meet and I can answer any questions specific to Munhall or Lincoln School. Both meetings are identical. Choose the one that works best for you!
Can’t attend either night? The meeting will be recorded and available for viewing at your convenience.
Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 7:00-8:00 p.m
A Zoom link will be sent via email
