Student Spotlight - Third Grade - Rocks and Simple Machines

It is always great to see the exciting activities happening around the building. With a full week students were able to accomplish a lot with new projects and finishing up current projects. Third grade is in the student spotlight this week with their work with rocks and simple machines!

Universal Design for Learning - Representation

Universal Design for Learning is:

A framework for creating instruction that focuses on the “what,” the “why” and the “how” of learning. Employees in BCSC use this framework to design everything from classroom lessons to faculty meetings to parent newsletters. This week we start with the “what.”

What does content look or sound like? We provide options for PERCEPTION.

A book from the library

An eBook downloaded from sites like myON, Kindle or Bartholomew County Public Library that may have audio tools or in-text vocabulary help.

Home connection: Ask your child about his or her preferences for reading. Technology permitting, explore the links above together and talk about the different ways text is represented. Your child may surprise you with some interesting contributions to this discussion!

The girls did a fantastic job last Saturday! I was able to video their performance on my phone. You can view it below. Congratulations to all basketball players and cheerleaders for a great season. We ended the season with an awards program on Wednesday. Thank you to players, parents, and coaches for all of your hard work this season!

PreK and Kindergarten Enrollment

It is that time of year again. Do you have a student turning 4 by August 1st? Did you know BCSC offers PreK at most of our elementary schools? Please see the flyer below for more information on how to enroll your child.

Kindergarten Round Up is scheduled to begin the week of March 7th. We will have one evening opportunity to sign up students turning 5 before August 1st and then office hours from 8:00 - 3:30 for enrollment.

If you have a child you feel would benefit for early Kindergarten enrollment you can view the application materials online beginning Feb. 1st. The deadline to turn in applications for early Kindergarten enrollment is April 1st. This is only for students younger than 5 by August 1st.
