Principal's Corner
Good Afternoon Eagle Families,
We are heading into a busy week at the Park! This week is Halloween and we have a grading day coming up on Friday (no school for students). I will be sending guidance on Halloween costumes early next week in a separate email.
Today, we are saying goodbye and wishing good luck to Lelainya Guzman. Ms. Guzman has been teaching art at Meadow Park for 13 years and her students’ artwork is proudly displayed throughout our building. Beginning Monday, she will be teaching at Westview High School were she will get to work with many former Eagles and bring her skillset to the team there. Although she will be missed, we wish her the best in the transition and are hopeful to have someone new join our team early next week.
I want to thank each and every family that contributed to our Jog-a-thon over the last month. Our PTO successfully raised over $23,000 that will go back to our staff and students over the course of the year. Looks like I’ll be wearing blue and yellow (and dying my hair to match) next Thursday in addition to creating a TikTok video. Your support of Meadow Park is greatly appreciated!
Make it a great week!

TAG
Every year all students are considered for identification as Talented and Gifted in Beaverton School District. These services are usually provided within the classroom by the teacher(s). In accordance with Oregon law, District policy defines gifted students as those who score at or above the 97th percentile on a standardized, nationally normed test of mental ability and/or academic achievement. Behavioral, learning, and/or performance information is also considered before a student is identified for TAG services.
In accordance with OAR 581-022-1310, our District is also committed to efforts in the identification of students from ethnic minorities, students with disabilities, and students who are culturally different or economically disadvantaged.
If you think your child might exhibit qualities that typically are used to describe giftedness, you may wish to complete the Parent Information Form (linked below). Because we believe that parents are excellent observers of their child’s potential, we invite your input into this nomination process. This parent form is based on the Kingore Observation Inventory that is used by classroom teachers in the fall for a six-week period of time. Circle those characteristics that describe your child and provide supporting examples whenever possible. While completing this form does not guarantee that your child will be tested, it will give your school’s TAG committee valuable additional information in the nomination process.
Upon receipt, your completed form becomes part of the school’s identification process. Parents will be notified regarding testing eligibility, and the required permission form will be sent to parents prior to testing. Testing can begin as early as mid-November, and identification is usually completed within six weeks.
The Parent Information Form (linked below) may be completed and returned to your school’s TAG facilitator, or the school’s office.

Thank you, Art Literacy volunteers!
Ancient Greece
Painted Pottery
1900-100 BCE
This week our students experienced their first Art Literacy lesson for the year! Meadow Park students learned that Greek artists are considered to have reached the highest standard of artistic beauty. Their paintings, sculptures, architecture and pottery are thought to have been one of the peaks of artistic expression in all of human history. All students in grades 6-8 received a lesson in Ancient Greek Pottery this week as part of the Beaverton School District Art Literacy program. They applied the use of patterns and unity to create their own pottery fragments.
A big thank you to our dedicated parent and community volunteers who come in to teach our students three times throughout the school year!
