COVID Information

If a student or someone in their household has a pending COVID test, he/she should not attend school while the test results are being finalized. If the parent is notified by a physician that the test is negative, the student can return to school. If the student has a positive test, the parent should provide documentation to the school and follow quarantine orders from the Mississippi State Department of Health. If a parent sends his/her child to school while waiting for COVID test results, the parent is knowingly risking the potential of COVID-19 transmission to staff members and other students. In addition, these actions could cause students and/or staff members to be quarantined by the Mississippi State Department of Health for 14 days. If your child says he/she does not fell well, please do not send them to school.

Virtual Office Hours for Teachers (Updated)

Virtual office hours for teachers have been attached below.

Student Laptops

DCS will be offering each student a laptop to utilize at school and at home for the remainder of the semester. The cost to get a laptop is only $12.50. 6th Grade students received their paperwork this past Wednesday. Parental Consent Forms for 7th grade students will go home this Monday, January 11th and need to be returned with their payment by Wednesday, January 13th. 8th grade students will receive their packet on January 14th and everything will need be returned by January 19th. I encourage all students to get a laptop. VIP students, who didn’t initially receive a device, will be emailed on January 15th with instructions on how they can obtain a device. We hope to begin distributing devices on January 25th—we will keep you updated.

Basketball Games (Updated Information)

In order to adhere to the Mississippi Department of Health guidelines, the following polices have been put in place to ensure our school is in compliance. All spectators are required to a wear a mask to sporting events and social distancing must take place. We are only allowed to fill our gym with 250 people. My primary goal is to ensure the parents of athletes are able to watch their child participate.

Each student athlete will be given two ticket passes for family members, which will allow them to purchase 1 ticket per pass, once they arrive at the game. After your child's game, we ask that you leave the premises, so we do not go over the 250 person capacity mandate. Students who are not participating, but want to be spectators, must be accompanied by a parent in order to attend games.

Make-up Pictures

Mrs. Hughes will be taking traditional student make-up pictures this Wednesday and Thursday. Students can stop by her room before 1st or 7th period. She is located in Room B32. Make-up pictures for VIP students will take place this Tuesday, January 26th from 8:15-9:05 A.M. & from 2:00-2:30 P.M., in our library.
