Electronic Device Collections (School-issued Laptops)

Device collection for our traditional students will take place the week of May 10th. Please make sure your child returns their laptop, case, and power cord. In addition, please remind them to remove any loose papers, wireless mouse plugs, earbuds, etc. from the case.


Monday, May 10 - all 6th grade classes

Tuesday, May 11 - 7th grade classes

Wednesday, May 12 - 7th grade classes

Thursday, May 13 - 8th grade classes

Friday, May 14 - 8th grade classes AND make-up day

** We will be collecting devices and textbooks from our VIP students on both May 21 (9am - 2pm) and May 24 (noon - 2pm).

2021-2022 7th and 8th Grade Course Selection Information

Beginning April 12, be on the lookout for 2021-2022 course information from DCMS counselors. Starting 4/12, parents/guardians can access course selection forms on the DCMS Counselor's Corner webpage. The deadline to complete these forms is April 30. (Complete the form of the grade your child is going into.)

DCHS Softball Tryouts

Softball tryouts for DeSoto Central High School (upcoming 7th-12th graders) will be on Thursday, May 20th at 4:00 P.M. You can contact Ashley Hilton (ashley.hilton@dcsms.org), if you have any questions.

Girls and Boys Soccer Tryouts

Boys' and Girls' Middle School Soccer Tryouts will be May 13th, after school until 5 P.M. All current 6th and 7th graders are allowed to tryout with a current physical. For girls soccer, please sign-up on the "Middle School Sign-Up Sheet" outside of C20 and grab a flyer. Boys can sign up in B16 (Coach Cooper) or B28 (Coach Klinck).

Girl soccer tryouts for the high school are May 10-11 from 4:00-5:30 P.M., at the high school soccer field. You must have a current physical, shin guards, and cleats to tryout. Sign up sheets are outside of Coach Kruger's room-C20.

Boys soccer tryouts for the high school are May 12-13 at 4 P.M. at the soccer field. You must have a current physical, shin guards, and cleats to tryout.

Volleyball Tryouts

2021 Volleyball Tryouts for upcoming 7th graders will be May 10-11 from 4-6 P.M., in our gym. Upcoming 8th grade girls will have tryouts May 13th, 4-6 P.M., and May 14th, 2-4 P.M. Attendance for both days is required to be considered. You must have a current physical. Permission slips will be located in the gym and must be returned to Coach Collard by May 7th.

DCHS Cross Country

High school Cross Country tryouts will be Tuesday, May 4th, at the high school track.

8th Grade Girls' Basketball Tryouts

Tryouts for 8th grade girls' basketball will be May 12th, from 3:35-4:30, in our gym. All students must have a current physical in order to tryout. Please contact Coach Nowell (alicia.nowell@dcsms.org) if you have any questions.

Choir Auditions

Choir auditions for high school will be Tuesday, May 11th, in DCMS choir room. Choir auditions for middle school will be May 12th-May 14th. Candidates need to see Mrs. Hunsucker for an audition packet. The sign-up sheet is located outside the choir room.

Yearbook Staff Applications

Yearbook staff applications are available on the DCMS website under the yearbook link. Applications are due Friday, May 14. Use the link below to access the application.

Awards Day

Awards Day will take place Monday, May 24th, in our gym. Those students who will be receiving an award will get an invitation by May 13th. Parents will be able to attend if they choose to. We will also be live streaming the ceremony on the DCMS PTO Facebook page. (6th Grade-8:30 A.M., 7th Grade-9:30 A.M., 8th-10:30 A.M.)

DCMS Jag Day 2021

Jag Day will be May 17th. We plan to show our students how much we appreciate them by delivering treats to their classrooms. VIP students can pick up their treats from 1-2 P.M., in front of the school.

COVID Information

If a student or someone in their household has a pending COVID test, he/she should not attend school while the test results are being finalized. If the parent is notified by a physician that the test is negative, the student can return to school. If the student has a positive test, the parent should provide documentation to the school and follow quarantine orders from the Mississippi State Department of Health. If a parent sends his/her child to school while waiting for COVID test results, the parent is knowingly risking the potential of COVID-19 transmission to staff members and other students. In addition, these actions could cause students and/or staff members to be quarantined by the Mississippi State Department of Health for 14 days. If your child says he/she does not fell well, please do not send them to school.

Parents- For access to your child's schedule, attendance, and grades please make sure you have access to Parent Portal. If you need your password reset or a new account set up, please email a copy of your photo ID to dawn.mulrooney@dcsms.org.
