6th Grade Science
What's Happening in Ms. Varghese's Class
2nd Quarter Begins!
Students have finished the Chemistry unit and are now presenting their final group projects. They worked collaboratively with their lab groups to create a Google Slide Presentation to share with the class. The project is a Request for Proposal (RFP) that features a special event (i.e, Magic Show) showcasing 3-4 chemistry concepts of their choice. Later this week we begin our next unit, Local Ecology which is the focus of the 2nd quarter. In the next few weeks students will learn about; the flow of energy, food chains and food webs, biodiversity and what it means to be a producer and consumer. On November 18th, we are participating in the Racing Extinction: #StartWith1Thing Virtual Field Trip hosted by the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Discovery Education. Throughout this unit, students will learn about real-world issues including the loss of biodiversity and what they can do to prevent it.
