Lesson Plans for March 19th-March 27th
Hello Students and Parents
*Please take time each day to wake up and say your daily prayers, complete your daily chores. Ask your parents how you can help around the house. You can definitely complete at least 3 chores for your parents.
*Be prepared to do school work for 3-4 hrs. each day, if you finish early read a book of your choice. Each Friday will be designated as a catch up day and you will have short assignments. Please practice anything you are having trouble with and finish any outstanding work that has not been completed on Fridays.
*Please set up a nice work space for yourself. Somewhere you can concentrate and get your work done.
*Please walk each day outside and give yourself a break as you work (like we do in school), fresh air always helps.
*Let me know if you have any questions. Teachers will give directives on how to hand in work as we go. I am thinking of all of you, continue to be cheerful and kind. The 7th Grade Teaching Team

Cherry blossoms by Toi Derricotte
Cherry blossoms
I went down to
mingle my breath
with the breath
of the cherry blossoms.
There were photographers:
Mothers arranging their
children against
gnarled old trees;
a couple, hugging,
asks a passerby
to snap them
like that,
so that their love
will always be caught
between two friendships:
ours & the friendship
of the cherry trees.
Oh Cherry,
why can't my poems
be as beautiful?
A young woman in a fur-trimmed
coat sets a card table
with linens, candles,
a picnic basket & wine.
A father tips
a boy's wheelchair back
so he can gaze
up at a branched
heaven.
All around us
the blossoms
flurry down
whispering,
Be patient
you have an ancient beauty.
Be patient,
you have an ancient beauty.

Science 7:
Continue to work on your Backyard Journaling Project, keeping in mind the following:
1. Have a separate journal for your backyard journaling project 2. You will be creating a visual map of your backyard, from your back porch, from your balcony, from some other green space.
3. Make a map of your backyard or some other green space. This project will lead you to look at the geography of a place and it might reveal patterns you would otherwise overlook.
4. Anything with an interesting spatial distribution can be mapped. "Zoom out" and plot the distribution of plant life throughout your backyard (or other green space).
5. As the project progresses, we will "zoom in" on individual plant species. In doing so, you will begin to notice patterns in the leaves, bark, buds, and flowers. These patterns will lead us to identification of the trees and plants in your backyard.
1b. The second phase of the backyard journaling project is a sound map. More details on that will be posted to Google Classroom later once we reach that phase.
Make sure you check Google Classroom at least 3 times per week, where I will post more materials as the project progresses. Stay tuned.

I would like the students to complete the following project.
The students will be redesigning the cover to one of the books they have read for English class this year. Their first step is to choose two powerful events or moments from the story they’ve chosen. Next, they will draw a rough draft of each of the two events they chose. They MAY NOT just redraw an existing cover of the book. Please make sure their name is on their work.
Please take a picture or scan their two drafts and email the image to me by Friday the 20th. Thank you.
