SCHOOL NEWS AND VIEWS
October 4, 2019
October is HERE!
And with that, lots of things to look forward to.
We are finished with our first round of MAP testing. We will be testing again in January and then again in May.
The Scholastic Book Fair is HERE! More info to follow but we encourage you to take advantage of this great opportunity to buy quality books for your children at a reasonable cost. The book fair is open each day during the day and also after school. Please give your children money to buy books OR shop with the link I will provide below OR put money in the digital wallet.
This is HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH! Our 1st grade classes did fabulous jobs on their country projects! See photos below.
We have a FAMILY DINNER NIGHT scheduled for next Wednesday, October 9th. In honor of HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH we have planned a delicious meal of tacos and all of the fixings, rice and beans, tostones and dessert. Dinner tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children. We hope you will come.
The BOOK FAIR will be open during the FAMILY DINNER for your shopping pleasure and Mrs. Trujillo and I will be reading Hispanic Heritage books to children.
Coming up at the end of the month is the PTL Fall Festival on Friday, October 25th. This year the theme is AROUND THE WORLD Fall Festival. Each class is responsible for a class booth that is themed to a particular country or region. Each class is responsible for providing individually wrapped candies or small treats for TRICK OR TREATING AROUND THE WORLD. Your teacher will be asking you for donations. Donations count towards your service hours. They need to come to school in a bag with your child's name and the receipt and the PTL will take care of your pink slips. In addition to visiting the booths and getting treats, there will be a costume contest (NOTHING SCARY OR NEGATIVE), a dance contest, a dunk tank and rock climbing wall and food will be sold.
Admission is one canned good per person for our food pantry or $1 per person. We will provide you with a list of items we need for the pantry. Tickets will be sold for the dunk tank and climbing wall and simple food will be sold.
The festival will be from 6PM to 8PM.
