Southside Family Fitness Night

Southside's Annual Family Fitness Night is on Tuesday, September 20th from 6:00PM-7:00PM! Come out and walk our outside trails that will have fun stations for the whole family! Make smoothies on a blender bike! This is a free, fun event that Southside hosts!

Family Sing Along and Dinner sponsored by Born Learning Workshop 2!

If you have a child Birth to 4 years old you are invited to attend a Family Sing Along and Dinner sponsored by Born Learning Workshop 2! The children practice while the adults meet to discuss ways that they connect with their children. At the end of the night everyone will come together for a Family Sing Along!


Family Sing A Long Night is Thursday, September 22nd from 5:30PM-7:00PM. Dinner is served from 5:30PM-6:00PM and then the parent meeting starts at 6:00PM. PTO Mother-Son Bonfire

This Southside PTO sponsored event will be held on Friday, September 23rd from 6:00PM-8:00PM at 1330 Mulberry Pike, Shelbyville (Mulberry Orchard). Cost is $12 at the door. Ticket includes: drinks, s'mores, playgrounds, cornfield &soyfield maze walks, tug-o-war against moms and glow sticks!


*grandmother/aunt/etc welcome instead if Mom can't make it! The Southside PTO is looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Southside Seeking Approved Volunteers for Southside Book Fair

Southside will be having our first Book Fair the week of September 26th-29th. We are seeking approved volunteers that would be able to help out any day/any time during that week from 7:15AM-9:00AM. If you are able to volunteer please contact Marilyn Tamer, Southside Librarian at: marilyn.tamer@shelby.kyschools.us or just stop by and let us know!

Southside Family Resource Center Seeking 2 Southside Parents to fill open Advisory Seats

The Southside Family Resource Center is seeking a Southside parents to fill 2 open positions on the Southside Family Resource Center Advisory Council. This Council assists the Family Resource Coordinator with decisions, events and planning for the Family Resource Center. The Advisory Council meets on the fourth Monday of each month from 11:30PM-12:30PM. Lunch is provided. Parent Academy hosted by Shelby County Public Schools

Parent EdCamp: You are invited to attend SCPS next parent academy for families of elementary students. This parent academy will be focused on topics that are important to families so we are hosting the same academy on 3 different dates.


MARK YOUR CALENDARS:


  • Parent Academy 1: Will be held at Simpsonville Elementary on Tuesday, September 20th from 5:30-7:00PM
  • Parent Academy 2: Will be held at the Blair Center at Southside Elementary on Saturday, September 24th from 9:30AM-11:00AM
  • Parent Academy 3: Will be held at Heritage Elementary on Monday, September 26th from 5:30PM-7:00PM.

You may choose the date that works best for your family's schedule.



Sessions:

Standards Based Grading: Visit this session with Susan Dugle, Chief Academic Officer, and Rebecca Martin, Director of Cirriculum Personalization, to learn basic information on standards based grading and have your questions answered.

Your Child and Technology: John Leeper, Director of Innovation, and Adam Watson, Digital Learning Coordinator will provide an overview of our district's digital citizenship plan as well as how parents can help support technology use at home.

Your Child and Math: Parents! Are you noticing that your child is learning math differently than how you experienced? Join Bindu Sunil, District Math Coach, to tips on how to help your child with math.
