Parent Education Speaker Series
Who: ALL parents and community members welcome
Date: November 21, 2016
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: HS Auditorium
The Otsego Local School District is proud to announce The Otsego Parent Education Speaker Series. At least twice a year, Otsego will create a venue for community conversations around relevant and thought provoking topics for the purpose of promoting student well being, character development, academic success and parental support. All sessions will be free to the community and will be held in the Otsego High School Auditorium.
Our first event will be led by Scott Grant, Founder of Triple Threat Leadership, LLC. and centered around personal branding, positive social media strategy, college preparation, and the full life cycle from high school, to college, to professional life.
Scott will be presenting to high school students during the day on the 21st . We will be deciding then if we bring him back to talk to our junior high students. The parent session will benefit all parents. We are encouraging every parent in the Otsego District to attend this session.
School Safety Enhancement - THE BOOT
The safety and welfare of our students and staff is one of our highest priorities at Otsego Local Schools. As we always do, we will take time during our professional development days to talk about our enhanced lockdown procedures. Teachers, building staff, and students know their options to evacuate, barricade, or use evasive distractions to get away from an armed intruder (Run-Hide-Fight).
As an added measure, we are excited to announce the installment of The Boot™ Security System on 170 doors throughout our school buildings. The Boot™ will enhance our lockdown procedures.
The Otsego Endowment Foundation (OEF) is sponsoring an Adopt-A-Door Program to fund this important initiative. The OEF has given over $200,000 to the Otsego Local School District since its inception in 1988, and is excited to endorse this initiative. Adopt-A-Door is a great way for parents, family members, community leaders, businesses and civic groups to sponsor The Boot™ on one or more doors in our school buildings (see attached form). Please help us to get 170 sponsors by the end of the year. Consider donating, share the information with your employer, family and groups you are associated with.
We will be sending a letter home with your children next week.

Please mail or deliver completed Adopt-A-Door forms to Lisa Austin, 185050 Tontogany Creek Rd. Bowling Green, OH 43402. Make checks payable to the Otsego Endowment Foundation. Thank you very much for your continued support of our students and staff.
