Science & Tech ~ January 2020
~Mrs. Muraca
5th Annual Little Einstein's Expo ~ Invitation ~ April 15, 2020 from 6pm-7pm
Please be mindful that this activity is not mandatory, but it can promote a great deal of research skills along with confidence, knowledge and pride while learning about science topics. Children are encouraged to work in groups up to a maximum of 4 per group, partners or they can work independently. If working with others, it is crucial for the participants to coordinate dates for you to get together outside of school time. Everything your child needs to know about how to get started is in their Google Classroom account in the Science & Technology section.
In addition, I have given you the links below for all of the necessary paperwork to print out, read and use as a resource to complete the research, displays, and experiments. You may need to "make a copy" and print it out at home.
Only 1 sign up sheet must be filled out and returned by your group.
5th graders return their sign-up form to Mrs. Cooper or Mrs. Vieira
3rd-4th graders return their sign-up form to Mrs. Muraca
Due by Friday, February 7th
Have fun! Be sure to meet with your partner or group members outside of school as well.
The 2 after school drop in sessions to work on additional research and poster decorating will be in March:
Tuesday, March 24th from 3:15-4pm
Tuesday. March 31st from 3:15-4pm
(In Computer lab 304 and Makerspace 101)

January Computer Lab Activities:
5th Graders - Currently students in 5th grade have been using their Google Classroom to review Plants and Animal Needs terms learned in their inSpire Science programs. In addition, this month they have continued Typing.com lessons and have begun a Google Slide project of making a travel guide presentation using their knowledge of citing sources.
4th Graders - Currently students in 4th grade have been using their Google Classroom to review the Structure and Function of Living Things terms learned in their inSpire Science programs. In addition, they have continued Typing.com lessons and they have used extra time to finish their Moon Phases Drawing projects.
3rd Graders - Creating Google Docs about Pangolins.
Students are reviewing how to make a copy of a google doc that is shared with them. Once they rename the document, they can make revisions to the document. Last year, they learned how to create a word document using the Pages program on the TES computers. This lesson gives them practice learning the following:
- insert, align, underline, and bold text in a document
- change the font text, font size, font style and font color in a document
- change the indent spacing
- alter the line spacing of a paragraph
- create a bulleted list.

Thank you to Mrs. Larochelle in creating a wonderful way to sing the song to assist in our long town name and for 3rd grader Cameron Bacon suggesting it be sung to the tune "BINGO". Love all of your collaboration and teamwork!!!
