Sixth Grade Newsletter
February 7, 2016
Dear Parents,
Don't forget that students will not have school on Friday, February 12. Teachers will be involved in professional development activities.
English
This week we will be organizing our research notes and then we will begin writing our research papers. We are hoping to have an opportunity to use the iPad keyboards while we type our papers.
Social Studies
We have finished our unit on the world in spatial terms. We will be moving on to our unit on population and migration. Students have also been learning about the geography of Africa. Their Studies Weekly newspaper assignments are due Monday at the beginning of class.
Math
This week, students will conclude their work with Unit 6: statistical variability. We will continue to practice quartiles and outliers. We will also learn about mean absolute deviation. We will then review for the Unit 6 test. The test is planned for Monday, February 15th.
Science
Students had a quiz Friday. Students will get quizzes back on Monday. We will then move into chemical and physical properties and reactions.
No homework this week in Science.
