Superintendent Update
Caldwell Parish Schools
Greetings Team Caldwell!
The second semester is off to a great start! It's hard to believe that we are half way through this school year, and all that comes with the spring semester is upon us. I know that you are all faithfully working through your content and beginning to feel the sense of urgency that comes with the anticipation of spring testing. Unfortunately, COVID has reared its ugly head again, but as usual, you are pushing through and doing your best to keep everyone on track!
While school and district accountability are always a priority for us, we are more concerned about making sure our students continue to recover from the learning loss due to COVID and continue to have amazing classroom experiences. Testing is simply a means for us to measure our students' progress, so I encourage you to keep that in mind as you plan your lessons this semester.
We are so excited about our upcoming Teach Like a Pirate 30-Day Challenge, and we hope you are, too! We hope you accept the challenge and incorporate one hook a day for the next 30 days!! Just imagine how much fun your class will be AND how much your students will learn being so engaged! Stay tuned for more information during your school level PLCs!

School Board Appreciation Month
School Board Members: Rising Above!
The challenge involved in providing an excellent educational experience for the many, varied students in Caldwell Parish School District is a challenge that requires dedication and creativity in the best of times. January is School Board Recognition Month and Caldwell Parish School District is honored to celebrate its school board members for their dedication and commitment to the district’s schools and students.
Board service is a noble effort accepted by only a few in the community. It can be a tough job, especially in these unprecedented times. It is a critically important job that requires an election and then mandated training. It is a responsibility that takes time, a mature outlook, and careful decision-making.
Board members come from all walks of life. They are farmers, bankers, business owners, retirees, and professionals. They are people you see in the store, at the game, and in your neighborhood. They are often overlooked, but their contributions cannot be overstated. They are shaping tomorrow.
Take a moment to recognize your local board members. Take a moment to honor the work they are doing to help your students excel in the future. Take a moment to say thank you for the work school board members are doing on behalf of your students and community.

2022 Accelerate Summer Camp T-Shirt Design Contest
Believe it or not, we are already in the planning phases for Caldwell Parish 2022 Accelerate Summer Learning Camp. This year, we would like to involve our students in the planning process by holding a district wide summer camp t-shirt design competition. We are asking that this contest be made available for all students K-12 because you never know who will emerge as talented artists or designers.
All who are interested in designing this year’s camp t-shirt should submit their idea/drawing on an 8x11 sheet of paper using our 2022 theme of “SUPERHEROES” by Friday, February 4, 2022. Individual student submissions are due to me at the school board office via interoffice mail or hand delivery. Please ensure the student’s full name, grade, and school are written on the back right hand corner of the paper.
All entries will be displayed in the hallway of the school board office. A panel of judges will select the winning design on Friday, February 11th. Once the winning t-shirt design is selected, the student will be recognized by the school district, be presented with a $50 gift card of their choice and of course have their design on the 2022 Accelerate Summer Camp t-shirt. I simply can not wait to see the ideas and designs!
Thank you for your support and participation,
