Harriet Tubman

An Underground Railroad Conductor

Harriet Tubman

Harriet Tubman was born as a slave in Maryland in the 1820's. She was a "conductor" of the Underground Railroad. Tubman is credited with making 19 trips to the South to deliver more than 300 slaves to freedom. She was successful in all of her attempts to deliver slaves to freedom. None of the slaves she led lost their lives in the journey to freedom.
