Message from Mr. Cruz
Hello MMS Parents
We made through week 2…I hope it went better than week 1. I have had the opportunity to visit many classrooms (virtually) and I have like what I have seen. Many of our students are attending class and participating. There are a couple of things I do need your help with:
1) We need all students to report on time to class. Starting Monday, any student that arrives 10 minutes late will not be allowed into the class. Teachers will set up a meeting with those students during intervention time to discuss what they miss.
2) Please remind your child to keep their camera on if possible. I know there are some cases where they can’t and I understand. Even if they have it on but have the camera facing a wall. Our teachers just need to know they are there. It is very difficult and discouraging teaching to all black screens. If your child has to keep their camera off, they will be required to use the chat or emoji function. Our teachers need some type of communication from the student.
Overall, I have been very pleased with our teachers and students efforts as we adjust to virtual learning.
Other Reminders:
Our yearbooks have finally arrived! I greatly appreciate everyone’s patience with this. Yearbooks will be distributed Tuesday-Thursday 8am-4pm. Please call the front office once you arrive (512-268-8508) and let them know who your child is. Please remain in your vehicle and a staff member will take the yearbook to you.
As some of our students are preparing to return on September 28th, please review our dress code rules and review your child’s syllabus for school supplies.
I have included a document below labled MMS Procedures 9.28. Please take some time to review this document with your child. This document explains our campus procedures for the upcoming year.
Thank you for all that you do and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Mr. Cruz

Zoom Expectations For Students
Students in Zoom meetings:
We would (if possible) like to have the student’s camera on. We understand there may be times for the camera to be off but if at all possible, please make sure the camera is on.
We want students to be as focus as possible. Students laying on their bed or inside a vehicle might make it difficult for them to focus. If students can have a table or desk to work at, that would be best. Consistency will be the key.
Please talk to your child about the importance of limiting distractions. Pets, toys, constantly changing their computer background, and having other objects should not be a part of the zoom meetings.
Students must type their first and last name before entering a zoom meeting. Students will not be let into a zoom meeting if they are not writing their first and last name.
Zoom Expectations For Parents
Parents/Family/Pets in Zoom meetings:
Thank you for helping your child log on and making sure they are in the correct zoom meetings. Moving forward we would like for parents and/or other family members to not be in the zoom meetings. We are fine with parents helping their child log on but once class starts we ask that only the student is in the camera.
Zoom Expectations For Teachers
Teachers in Zoom meetings:
My expectation for teachers is for them to be on a zoom meeting every day. Some days they will be teaching new material and some days they may be there to check in and answer any questions they may have. Please let me know if teachers are not showing up to Zoom meetings.
If your child is in a zoom meeting and is not let in, please email the teacher. We are reminding our teachers to check the waiting room to let students in.
