Mysterious Powder
Lab Report
Tests
My group first test was the Mysterious powder with vinegar to see if the Mysterious powder would fizz. Our second test was the Mysterious powder and water with litmus paper(PH) to see if our Mysterious powder would match with any other powder that we tested. Our third test was the Mysterious powder with iodine because we wanted to see if our Mysterious powder had starch in the powder. Our last and final test with the Mysterious powder was the Mysterious powder and PR to see if it was and acid.
Test #1
In test number one we added vinegar to see if the Mysterious powder would fizz and if you can look closely you can see some fizzing at the top of the powder.
Test #2
In test number two we wanted to see if our Mysterious powder would match up with another powder as a PH of 8 and as you can see the litmus paper(PH) turned a green type of color.
Test #3
In test number three we wanted to see if the Mysterious powder had starch in the powder and if the powder would match up with any other powder that had starch in it.
Test #4
In test number four we tried to see if the Mysterious powder had acids in it and if it matched up with any other powders had the same results had an acid in it.
Results/Conclusion
In test number one we added vinegar and wanted to see if the Mysterious powder would fizz, and it did so that was a positive! In test number two we added water to the powder to the powder and wanted to see if the Mysterious powder would match a different powder had a Ph of 8 and it was successful because we found out that a powder we tested had a ph of 8! In our third test we were trying to see if the Mysterious powder had starch and it was also successful because the powder turned a black brown type color which indicated that there was starch in it! In our final test with the pr and were trying to see if there was any acids in there powder and there wasn't because it didn't turn gold like we wanted it to instead it turned red and partially pink:(.
