3rd grade making a giant Dewey number line!

PreK worked on counting and colors and Kindergarten used this books to build background knowledge for their economics unit.
Meet Scott, the Beebot!
Kindergarten got to practice their problem solving, coding and programming skills with Scott the Beebot!
Kahoots, Padlets and Pear Decks, Oh My!
4th and 5th graders have been learning about digital citizenship via interactive quizzes, presentations and , and virtual sticky notes. Resources from commonsensemedia.org were used. 5th grade especially enjoyed the rap on oversharring.
Sensory Integration!
PreK and K students got to feel a real sheep's fleece and wool thanks to England Acre's farm for lending us the materials!
Elephant Seals
1st and 2nd grade have been building background knowledge about Elephant Seals using a non fiction Capstone ebook. Then we read about Elizabeth, Queen of the Seas, a Black Eyed Susan nominated picture book about a real elephant seal who shows a growth mindset! We practiced using text support to describe her character traits.
Global School Playday 2016 was a huge success!
On Wednesday, February 3, UES students who were lucky enough to have Media on Wednesday, joined thousands of students world wide to participate in Global School Play day! To find what this event is all about click here.

Don't forget we have over 130 capstone ebooks that students can read any time, regardless of how many UES library books they have checked out! Click on the capstone icon off of the Media Center homepage or go to mycapstonelibrary.com and login in with the username ues and the password read

Makerspaces!
There is a maker movement among school and public libraries and UES wants to join! Do you have any legos or kinnex that your kids have outgrown and want to donante? The Media Center will happily take these gently used maker items! We hope to begin collecting items for our UES Media Center makerspace as the year goes on.
