Academic Excellence

Based on Iowa School Performance Profile Rankings Treynor's elementary, middle, and high school are all high performing. The district has 92% proficiency in English and 87% in math. Treynor is also above the state average in 14 out of 15 performance indicators.


Out of the 43 schools in the Green Hills Area Education Agency territory, Treynor is one of 4 school districts in which all of their schools are rated as High Performing on the Iowa School Performance Profiles.


Compared to the state and local AEA Treynor’s proficiency average was above in Math, ELA, and Science in all grades 3-11 in the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP).


The class of 2022 was above the state average in all four areas of college readiness (English Composition, Social Sciences, College Algebra, and Biology).

Treynor's average ACT score, which measures a student's readiness for college, was a 26 according to Niche.

Over Four Centuries of Experience

What does it mean to be a Treynor Cardinal? It means you are part of a school district whose Elementary teachers have 417 years of combined experience! Our elementary also received an overall "A" rating from Niche.

Our Middle School Chose Kindness!

Treynor middle school students volunteered to collect food items for the local food pantry. The items went towards Thanksgiving meals for local families.

Junior Optimist Club

Treynor's Junior Optimist Club is 1 of 56 clubs in Iowa performing an average of 10112 service projects per year. Treynor's Junior Optimist Club membership is twice the size of the average JOI club in Iowa!

Jazz Band Continues on a Historical Path

Treynor's Jazz Band has made 30 consecutive appearances at the Iowa Jazz Championships! The Jazz Band recently received a Division I rating at State Jazz Band held at Lewis Central on January 28, 2023. Qualification for IJC 2023 will take place later this month.

Vanguard Caps Off Season with High Ratings

The Treynor Cardinal Vanguard capped off their marching band season with a Division I rating at the state marching band competition in Glenwood on Saturday, October 15, 2022, followed by a 1st place finish in Class 2A and best in class color guard at the Mid-Iowa Championships held in Ankeny.

A Tradition of Athletic Excellence

According to Niche's 2023 Best School Districts for Athletes in Iowa, Treynor is rated #4 out of 302 districts in the state.

Girls Wrestling Celebrates First Year - Cardinals Qualify for State!

2022-2023 marks the inaugural season of Girls' Wrestling in Iowa. Girls' wrestling has experienced exponential growth not only in Iowa but across the United States. Treynor is proud to support girls' wrestling not only at the junior high and high school level but also through the Treynor Youth Wrestling Club.


Congratulations to Addie Minahan, Andyn White, Emerson Gregg, and Emma Miller for qualifying for the first-ever girls state wrestling tournament!

Treynor Football Playoff Bound Again!

The Treynor Cardinals finished the regular season on a high note with a 5-3 record. This season was the team's 21st state playoff appearance in school history!

Volleyball Team Are Western Iowa Conference Champions

Congratulations to our volleyball players on becoming the 2022 Western Iowa Conference regular season and tournament champions!

was the September recipient of the "Raising the Red C" award. Patty leads by example through her hard work, commitment, and caring for students and staff. She is an example of what it means to be a Treynor Cardinal!
