Reminders
Giant A+ Rewards
- Don't forget to sign-up for Hampden's Giant A+ Rewards
- Last year, our school was a top-earning school in the program and earned $2,798.92 and we have 417 families supporting our school
- Did you know that an estimated 6-12 million infestations occur each year in the U.S.?
- We would like to encourage parents to please check your child’s head at least once a week throughout the school year
- Signs of infestation include head scratching or the sudden appearance of white specks in the hair. The white specks may be the nits or eggs that the louse has laid. Nits may be found on the hair shaft about 1/4 - 1/2” away from the scalp and are found more often behind the ears, in bangs, and at the base of the neck. Nits look like a fleck of dandruff, but don’t come off the hair shaft unless you scrape them with your fingernail. Nits feel like a grain of sand stuck to the hair.
- If you have any concerns about your child, or if you find head lice in your child’s hair, please contact our school nurse at 717-737-4513
- More information can be found at www.cvschools.org/HeadLice.

Treat Guidelines
Classroom parties/celebrations with food/beverages shall be limited to no more than one (1) per month in each classroom. Parents/Guardians shall be informed through newsletters or other efficient communication methods that foods/beverages should only be brought in when requested for scheduled parties. Classroom parties shall offer a minimal amount of foods (maximum 2-3 items) containing added sugar as the primary ingredient (e.g., cupcakes, cookies) and will provide the following:
1. Fresh fruits/vegetables; and
2. Water, 100 percent juice, 100 percent juice diluted with water, low-fat milk or nonfat milk.
3. Consideration should be given for gluten free and nut free snacks.
Non-food items are a great choice for celebrations. Stickers, book markers, erasers, or pencils are fun, non-sticky, and they include everybody, especially classmates who have food allergies or other health conditions. In order to assure the safety of all of our students and to comply with District guidelines, we ask that Hampden parents/guardians observe the following:

Skyward
As we begin a new school year and transition to Skyward (new student database) please remember to submit your online forms, contact information and health information. This information must be completed each year. Once you submit the contact and the health information, and the submission has been approved, the “tile” on your Skyward portal will turn green and be labeled “new”. You do not need to submit the information again - the tile will remain on your portal for your future use should you need to update contact or health information.
