A MESSAGE FROM K2
I know that many of our families are anxiously awaiting information on the start of the school year, so I am writing with a brief update following recent meetings with the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees. After careful consideration of many factors, we shared our plan to start the school year 100% online on August 17 to best protect the well-being of our students and staff. At this time, we do not know how long we will need to be online, but you can trust that we will have systems in place to provide a robust online program with both synchronous and asynchronous learning.
We believe starting school online will allow adults in our schools to refine the established health and safety protocols before introducing students back into the building. It will also provide the opportunity for staff and students to learn and master online learning tools, which will make any swift transition to online learning easier if we are required to close a classroom or school due to COVID-19. It is also important to know that there will be exceptions for a limited number of students to learn at school each day. These details will be shared in the near future.
We are planning to deliver online-only instruction (again, with limited exceptions) for at least four weeks, and we will continue to consult with a COVID-19 Advisory group and local health officials to determine when it will be appropriate to begin face-to-face instruction. As the advisory group continues its work, we will be publicly sharing the measures and metrics that will be used to determine when schools will open for face-to-face instruction. We want to be transparent in this endeavor to build confidence and reduce fear in our school community. On a related note, I want to assure you that we will also continue to monitor any guidance from UIL regarding athletics and fine arts activities. Any guidance they provide will be carefully studied to determine our best response.
Be assured that we have many, many staff members hard at work to make sure that our teachers and staff are well-prepared for a safe and successful launch of the school year. Please continue to visit www.fortbendsid.com/reimagined for updates, and plan to attend this week’s live check-in if you can.

Enrollment Verification is NOW OPEN!!
As Fort Bend ISD continues to prepare for the successful launch of online instruction on Monday, August 17, 2020, it is important that all families complete the Enrollment Verification process in Skyward Family Access prior to August 3. This is required for all new and returning students.
Information gathered in this year’s Enrollment Verification process will be used to best serve parents for the start of the school year. Through Enrollment Verification, parents can verify their contact information and fill out required forms.
This year, parents will asked to complete the following new forms:
- Back to School Readiness - Indicate your family’s needs associated with connectivity, childcare, and transportation.
- Lending Library Parent Agreement & Lending Library Technology Use
- Student BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Use Agreement
Parents of current FBISD students who do not have access to Skyward Family Access will need to contact their child's campus for their login information. Visit the Skyward Family Access page on the FBISD website for more assistance, as well as to view job aids for translation.
