Principal's Message
It has been wonderful to once again see so many of you in the hallways throughout Haynes during parent conference season. The conversations that are taking place in our classrooms do so much to support our shared efforts to maximize each student's success. Being able to share with and learn from you allows us to create the most optimal learning experience for your child.
Earlier this week I shared with you another opportunity to help us better learn about you, your student, your family and your experience as a member of the Haynes community. The Haynes Equity Leadership Team is looking to gather information to inform future planning. If you haven't already, please take a moment to complete the survey.
Sincerely,
Jeff LaBroad
Principal
Welcome Becca Ernst!
Haynes is pleased to welcome Becca Ernst, who begins with us this week as our newest Partners ABA Tutor. Ms. Ernst most recently served as an ABA tutor in the NECC Partners program in the Groton-Dunstable Regional School district—and they were not happy to see her go! She served in similar roles previously in Leominster, Fitchburg and Ayer. She is a graduate Fitchburg State University where she earned an undergraduate degree in English literature.
Haynes Welcomes Author Stuart Gibbs
On Friday, March 18 at 1:30, Haynes School will host a video visit with beloved author Stuart Gibbs of the Spy School and FunJungle book series. He will be talking about his writing and introducing a new illustrated series, for ages 7-10, called Once Upon a Tim. We have the opportunity of purchasing a copy of this new book which is complete with a signed bookplate. Click here to make your purchase. Books will be delivered to students at school. The deadline for ordering is March 25. For more information about Stuart Gibbs, please check out his website: https://stuartgibbs.com/
Reminders from the Health Office
With the removal of masks we are sure to see an uptick of typical illnesses and allergies. This is a reminder of the SPS policies for when to return to school after illness:
- 24 hours fever free without fever-reducing medication
- 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea and tolerating a typical diet
Please keep students home if they have a significant cough or copious amounts of nasal discharge as this is difficult for them to manage and a distraction in the classroom.
If your child develops any signs or symptoms of illness, please do an at-home COVID test. If they test positive they will need to be isolated for 5 days and can be released from isolation on day 6 but must still wear a mask at school for 10 days. Fully vaccinated close contacts do not need to be quarantined but we ask that you monitor them closely for symptoms and test for covid.
