NBHS Staff Welcome Back!!!
Leading Lifelong Learners...ALL In NBHS!!!
Staff Letter
Staff,
Greetings to all new and returning staff at NBHS. I'm truly excited for the 2018-2019 school year. I hope you have had a restful summer and one in which a ton of memories were made. Our family has been crazy busy this summer. Our two oldest are involved in soccer, softball, and basketball. Yes, they did all three sports pretty much the entirety of the summer. Our next to youngest played baseball all summer, went to a few wrestling camps, and a couple basketball camps. Our youngest is only four so all these sports are right around the corner for her, she practices with the older ones all the time. To add to the craziness we took a 11 day trip to the following places: Laramie, WY (Medicine Bow), Salt Lake City/Park City, UT (toured the winter Olympics facility), Boise/McCall, ID (to my best friend since elementary school and his family), and Denver, CO (to eat at Casa Bonita). We jumped from 30-40 ft. cliffs, swam in 50 degree water, watched future Olympians practice, hiked a couple mountains, played in the snow, and made a life time of memories.
As you approach the 2018-2019 school year, I hope you have reflected on why you became a teacher and the legacy you want to leave your students. As the school year gets ready to unfold, remember that there will be some ups and downs. We may feel as if the hill is sometimes to steep to climb, and we may come a cross some narrow paths we do not always want to cross. With this in mind we will not run from these challenges, but instead we will push each other up them and through them. We will embrace them so that we grow, learn, and ultimately positively impact the lives of our students and each other.
I hope each of you have taken the time to read some educational materials in order to enhance your arsenal of good instruction strategies, relationship building methods, methods for using technology in the classroom, etc. As always I will continue to push each of you to read something new about education. We have an obligation to use the best practices to reach students in this ever changing world. You have more access to knowledge than ever before; if you haven’t opened up something educational, please take the time to do so it will only make you better at what you do. This summer I have read the following books: Program Evaluation and Analyzes, Five Love Languages of Children, and Beyond the Numbers.
If you have not heard, the PDC and administration have committed to fully embedding Professional Learning Communities (PLC) back into our district. We are extremely excited to grow, learn, and develop professionally in the areas of PLC. Some of you are familiar with PLC's and some have zero experiences. This will be an awesome time for growth, community, and supporting each other through this learning process. The PLC team at NBHS consist of: Megan Klukowski, Julie Morris, John Reynolds, Elizabeth Morrow, Joe Robinson, and Jeremy Davidson. As we go through the training and we learn about the PLC processes we will be bringing information back to teachers, asking teacher to embed new ideas into their classrooms, committee meetings, etc. This is an outstanding initiative that will bring a district wide systematic approach to teaching and learning that will truly benefit the students, staff, and community.

Informational Parent Meeting: Suspicionless Drug Testing Progam
NBHS would like to invite high school students and parent/guardians to a parent night to learn about the new "Suspicionless Drug Testing Program” for students that are involved in a district-sponsored organization or club activities, MSHSAA recognized sports/extracurricular activities, and that park on school property. The parent night will be held on August 14, 2018 at 6:30-7:30 p.m. On this night parent/guardians will learn how the program works, what the process will look like, and other important information pertaining to the program. We are excited for this new program and we look forward to the support that you provide as we strive to keep NBHS a drug free environment and provide a healthy and safe school for students to learn and participate in.
