Traveling through History
Edmund Halley / The 1920s
Edmund Halley
"Ten Facts about Halley's Comet" claims that Halley's Comet may have first been seen as early as 240 BC, if not earlier. Over the years Edmund Halley had to calculate its orbit. According to Fox, he had needed a tool that was unavailable, but he did the best with what he had. He had began by sifting through more than two thousand comet sightings. He also studied on stars and planets. Halley also used a twenty-four foot aerial telescope to see his comet.
Thanks to Halley we can learn more about his comet. His comet takes so long to make one complete orbit. Halley comet is so famous that everybody goes out and whachs it every 75-76 years. When will you have a chance to see his comet?
1920s Prohibition
Prohibition
In 1776-1783 alcohol was increased. Most of the laws were repealed. Six states or more were still dry. Most reformers saw a problem. They had started to build saloons around to sell alcohol.
Prohibition is where you sell alcohol. Why was it illigal to sell alcohol in the United States? Even know it was still illigal people were still selling alcohol which is known as "boot-legging". How were six states so dry.
