Week of October 17

Kindergarten Scientists at Work!

This week, we have been learning about our five senses. Today, we wrapped up our unit with a taste test!

Field Trip

We will be going to the Dallas Arboretum on October 25. Please return the permission slip form by Monday, October 17. If you are planning to attend, please make sure you mark this on the slip.

This week in Kinder...

Sight Words: orange, said, in

Writing: We are beginning our Lucy Calkins writing curriculum this week in Writer's Workshop. We will be working on coming up with our own ideas, elaborating in our writing and becoming confident, independent writers. Of course, we will also continue working on using upper and lowercase letters and stretching out our words.

Reading: We will work in our small guided reading groups on comprehension and fluency.

Math: We will compare capacity, work on developing the concept of zero, representing 0 to 10 and use five and ten frames.

Social Studies: We will talk about the Christian flag.

Science: We will work on sorting matter.

Bible: We will talk about Samuel. Samuel listens to God, God want you to obey and how you can serve God.

Report Cards

Report cards will go out October 20. I will send out an email next week for you to sign up for Parent Teacher conferences if you would like a conference to discuss your child's progress.
