Message from the Principal

Thank you for the warm wishes, kind messages, cards, videos, handmade signs, and gift cards that were shared with teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation week!

As a part of the celebration of teachers everywhere, Wildcat staff would like to recognize some very important additions to our team... YOU! Thank you to all of the families taking on distance learning with us. We are so grateful for your partnership and diligence as we navigate Distance Learning together.

Below you will find just one of many kind messages that were shared!

Enjoy the sunshine,

Counselor's Corner

Dear Students and Families,

In an effort to provide support to students and families, your school counselor has created a Request to Check-In Google form:

Request to Talk to Mr. Kieser

If you have a need for counseling support, please click on the link, fill in the information (make sure to click submit ;) and then I will communicate with your parents/guardians to set up a virtual check-in with me.

Please see below for the district guidelines about virtual student contact:

  • The goal of any 1:1 contact between counselor and student is to provide direct social-emotional support.

  • All contact must be through Google Meets for video and Google Hangouts for audio.

  • All contacts between school staff and students must be scheduled through parents.

  • Contacts with 10 or fewer students cannot be recorded.

  • Students have the option to participate without mic and/or camera.

Gary Kieser, MS, LPC

Westridge Elementary School Counselor

Reminder: Outside School Facilities Closed

Until further notice, LOSD needs to follow executive orders that mandates school campuses remain closed through June 30. That includes school fields, tracks, courts and playgrounds. When the Governor's reopening plan includes athletic facilities, the previous mandate may relax and we may be able to reopen our facilities. Thank you for your continued cooperation for the safety and well being of all in our community.

LOSD staff made a 20 minute video for families about some tips for troubleshooting and helping students at home with Seesaw. We hope you find these helpful!

Tips for Motivating Students to Learn

It can be hard to motivate our children to learn at home. LOSD behavior specialists have created a video about what parents can do to structure things differently at home to increase student's expectations to learn. Doing schoolwork with home rules and expectations may work for some students, but not all. When it's time for school at home, setting expectations differently from typical home life may help.

LOSD Distance Learning for All

Distance Learning for All began on Monday, April 13. Teachers and staff are now providing teaching and learning in accordance with guidance from the Oregon Department of Education. Please click on the button to review all details.
