Attendance Area Adjustment Input Opportunity
Families and staff are invited to provide input on two final draft school boundary concept models Friday, Feb. 9 through Tuesday, Feb. 13. This is the final stakeholder input opportunity, as part of the District’s comprehensive Attendance Area Adjustment design process.
Beginning Friday, Feb. 9, please visit our website to review draft concepts and to select your preferred concept model. Each concept model is presented as a set of draft elementary and middle school attendance areas that go together.
The input provided via the survey will be compiled by Team Works, the District’s consultant, and provided to the Board of Education. Final recommendations and approval of the attendance area plan is anticipated at the end of February to address operational logistics, including school staffing, student registration, and more.
To review and submit your attendance area model preference, please visit our webpage at isd194.org/attendance-areas

Gifted Services Information and Updates
Elementary Gifted Services
Lakeville Area Schools offer a spectrum of learning opportunities to best meet student needs. Gifted Services are provided along that spectrum, working to provide and support rigorous learning opportunities through advocacy, collaboration, and differentiation at the elementary level. All students in grades K-5 receive differentiation opportunities in their classrooms. In addition, Discover and Ignite! are direct service programs for identified 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.
Ignite! Identification (Current 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Grade Students)
The identification process for 2024-25 Ignite! is currently underway, using set criteria to determine if Ignite! is the appropriate intervention to meet a student’s academic needs. Families of second grade students who are invited to participate in 3rd grade Ignite! for the 2024-25 school year receive written and/or email notification on Friday, February 23, 2024. If you didn’t/don’t receive notification and feel that your 2nd grader’s needs match the Ignite! curriculum, you may submit an appeal to the Identification Committee by completing an Ignite! Application and a Home Observation Inventory by March 28. If your child is a current 3rd or 4th grader, and you would like to apply for next year’s 4th or 5th grade Ignite! classes, you may also appeal by submitting an application and inventory. Students may be admitted to 4th and 5th grade Ignite! depending on educational need and current Ignite! class sizes. Inventories must be submitted to Teaching & Learning Coordinator, Angela Boyer, at angela.boyer@isd194.org by March 28. Please reach out to Angela with any questions.
Discover Identification (Current 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Grade Students)
Families of 2nd grade students eligible for the Discover program will be notified in September of 2024. If you do not receive notification in September, and feel that your child’s needs match the Discover curriculum, please complete a Home Observation Inventory and share it with your school’s Gifted Education Specialist. 3rd-5th grade appeals for Discover can be submitted at any time, while appeals for current 2nd grade students can be submitted over the summer or into the fall of 3rd grade. The Gifted Services Identification Committee reviews 2nd grade Discover appeals in early September. If you have additional questions, please contact your site Gifted Education Specialist.
Daily Desired Experience Student Survey
As part of the district’s ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of its students, a strategic plan was developed in the 2022-23 school year. This plan outlines the ‘desired daily experience’ that we aim to provide within all of our schools based on student, staff and parent/caregiver input.
In order to know if we are improving the daily experiences of students , we will be conducting an annual student survey March 4-15. The survey will be administered to students in Pre K-12, and the feedback gathered will play a critical role in shaping our future planning.
The survey will be conducted at school andis estimated to take approximately 10-30 minutes to complete, depending on the grade level. We encourage all students to participate, but it is voluntary. All responses will be confidential and anonymous. Parents/guardians may opt their students out from participating by completing the form linked here by Friday, March 1.
Thank you for your support and collaboration as we work together to create a positive and enriching school experience for all our students.
Book Swap Grades K-2 is Monday!
Grades K-2 Book Swap is scheduled for Monday, February 12, 2024. If your child chooses to participate, please send in 1-2 new or gently used picture or chapter books by Monday, February 12, 2024. If students bring in one book, they can swap out one book. If students bring in two or more books, they can swap out two books.
*We will gladly take additional donations of books.
Read-a-Thon Fundraiser
On Thursday, February 15, your child will bring home a fundraising envelope. The money that is raised will be used to purchase books for our bookroom and classrooms to support instructional and learning needs and intervention and enrichment materials. Our goal is to raise $20,000. Our fundraiser runs from February 15 through March 1, 2024. You can donate through the Cherry View Elementary Store found in Infinite Campus. Here are the directions on how to donate.
Favorite Book Illustration
Please return the illustrated book cover by Tuesday, February 13. The book covers will be displayed in the hallways for everyone to enjoy. Anyone who returns a completed book cover will be entered into a drawing to win a cozy reading gift basket. There will be one winner for grades K-2 and one winner for grades 3-5.
