TLES Community Newsletter
March 3, 2023
It has been an exciting month at TLES! We had a fun Family Game Night sponsored by PTA, Pizza with the Principals for students who have earned and turned in 100 Eagle feathers, we are in the midst of our fundraiser to support the American Heart Association, and we had a very successful Read Across America Day yesterday! If you don't already follow us on Instagram you might want to if you'd like to see pictures from all our events!

Additionally, we had a very entertaining Talent Show last month. If you were unable to attend, here is a link to the video. TLES TALENT SHOWCASE 2023
With all that we have already done and are currently doing, there's still much more happening ahead at TLES! Our PTA has so much information to share regarding the yearbook, Book Fair, and 5th Grade promotion they have their own newsletter. Here is the link to their newsletter.
Lastly, we would like to remind families of the importance of consistent attendance. We are finding that many families are planning vacations or even day trips during school days. Not only does this impact the funding our school receives for ADA (Average Daily Attendance) but more importantly it absolutely impacts your child's progress in school. Please plan vacations during scheduled school breaks and please model for your students the importance of showing up ON TIME for school daily unless they are truly sick.
We need your help with this as we already have 5,847 absences this school year with a student population of under 800. We want and need to show improvement in this area and appreciate your partnering with us.
Remember, when we attend we achieve!
Have a wonderful weekend.

Book Donations Needed
With spring break right around the corner, you may plan on doing some spring cleaning. If you can clean out the bookshelves in your home, we welcome any used books for our TLES Book Cart. You may leave them in the front office for Mrs. Albertoni. Please be sure and label the bag/box with your name or your child’s name. We want to be able to thank you. All book donations are appreciated.
At TLES safety is our first priority. With that in mind, we would like to ask once again that families please remember:
* Please reduce speed when driving near the school and particularly through the pick-up and drop-off loop.
* Please use the crosswalks. We still have parents darting through traffic oftentimes with their children in tow. This is extremely dangerous and does not model how we would want students to safely cross a street.
* Please obey traffic laws including not double parking. Just because the parking lot is full does not allow you to block others in. If you get to the lot after all spaces are filled you will need to get in line to drive through the loop or park on the street and walk to pick up students.
* Please ensure your car does not cross over into the crosswalk in the loop or the streets. Your bumper should meet the limit line, not cross it.
Families often ask us why our traffic seems so congested and the answer is that the school was built as a neighborhood school where most students would walk. However, since most of our families choose to drive students to school, we need to be patient and courteous and follow the safe and legal requirements to keep everyone safe.
Please note: The back two rows of the parking lot will be blocked off to prevent students from being dropped off and picked up in the parking lot. Students may only be picked up in the loop. If families need or want to park and walk to meet their students at the gate, you may pull through in lane 2 and then turn left into the lot, park, and walk your student to the crosswalk and across. Or, you will need to wait in the first lane line (lane closest to the curb) to drop off. Additionally, the loop near BASES is only intended for use by our special needs and BASES students who were given passes. If you do not have a pass, we ask that you please do not drop off or pick up in that area. If your student rides a bike or scooter to and from school please ensure they were a safety helmet.
