Elevated Bits and Bytes

Weekly Update- February 11th, 2022

Happy Friday! This early spring has been really lovely but it does seem like we'll get a late winter in the coming months.

Monday is our makeup picture day. If you'd like to have your student take pictures, see the information below. It will be in the room next to the Elevated Office.

Below you'll find information about our 4th and 5th students of the month for January. We wanted to make sure we honored these amazing Eagles as they are RISE-ing to the Elevated Expectations. We are proud of all our Elevated Eagles!

We found out earlier this week that Elevated received our initial WASC approval. Which means we're WASC accredited. This is a big deal for our high school and as we grow to include all the high school grades. What does it mean to be WASC accredited? It means we’re student focused, maintain a qualified staff with an effectively organized school and assess the quality of our educational programs regularly while making plans for the future.

LTUSD UNIVERSAL TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN (TK) INFORMATION

Greetings Lake Tahoe Unified School (LTUSD) Families,

There is a proposal under consideration in California to provide universal TK access to all students who turn five during the school year. This will impact districts in California differently depending on space availability. Currently, students are eligible for TK if they turn 5 between September 2nd and February 2nd. (Students who turn 5 by September 1 may enter Kindergarten.) Should the proposal be approved, LTUSD is planning to expand TK starting in the 2022-23 school year. Students with birthdays between September 2nd and February 2nd will be guaranteed a spot in TK in 2022-23. Students with birthdays from February 3rd through June 30 will be enrolled in birthday order pending space availability. Our current plan is to house our TK students at Tahoe Valley Elementary School (TVES), Bijou (TWBI), and possibly at our elementary school in Meyers.

To assist with staffing and space needs, we will be collecting interest via a Google form starting this week for all incoming LTUSD students whose birthdays are between September 2nd through June 2023.

The link to the form is here: https://forms.gle/rbFQPkUkF57SQbgG7 Funding & enrollment numbers will help determine further TK expansion to additional schools. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us this information and look forward to welcoming your child to one of our LTUSD schools.
