Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 12th May 2017
Going Back in Time
If you go out in the woods today..
SATS Week
We are so proud of the positive attitude of all our Year 6 pupils, who worked very hard in preparation for the tests this week. We got off to a great start every day with breakfast in the hall.
do you work in science, technology or engineering?
Would you be interested and willing to come into school to support and inspire our pupils and share a flavour of the work you do? Perhaps you might like to bring in some resources to demonstrate or to talk with pupils about the route you took to reach your position.
We are particularly interested in ensuring that our curriculum enthuses our children and prepares them for the world we live in.
If you are interested or have any questions please contact Mr Richardson. Thank you.
Changes to Nursery from September
In conjunction with the longer nursery day, we also intend to run a breakfast club and after school childcare for main school children. Details will follow soon.
get out, get active
Research shows that increased physical activity can have an effect on learning but more importantly on the positive mental health of our children.
We will be soon introducing the 'daily mile' into school, where all children will walk or run a mile every day in school time to increase their activity levels. We are grateful to the Friends who are busy raising money as we hope to install an all weather track on the far side of the school field so the daily mile can continue in good weather and bad.
We would also encourage children to be active out of school. We have added a list of local sports clubs available in Ripon to the school website, just click here. If you have any suggestions for other clubs to add to the list, please let the office know, thank you.
Reading on the up!
It looks like the Book Fair and our re-stocked book trolley have inspired some more readers, with good improvements in a few classes and year 5 reaching 100%, well done! One lucky child who has read five times or more during the week (or 5 if the class achieves 100%!) is selected by raffle from every class to choose a book from our special collection to take home and keep (and read!).
