Hero Headlines HMS Staff News
December 16, 2019
General Announcements.....
- Product Market is student centered so adults are invited to visit but purchasing is meant for the kids. The consumers get to spend money they earned all semester for behavior and work habits! Sometimes, these kids actually buy little gifts for their families. If towards the end of the market (maybe 9:15), there is a large supply of product (100 paper airplanes) but little demand (no line, bummed producers’ faces) adults are encouraged to participate.
- The school board will be visiting our building on January 8th (Welcome back!!!) - professional dress is expected. I will share the agenda with you when we have it - last year we celebrated the arts...this year we are going to talk about science & STEM.
- This next bit seems early, but please discuss in January: As you probably know, we have a shortage of bus drivers. We need to plan early for any field trips that may occur in May. I would like to encourage all of our teams to plan trips the last two weeks of school. Right now those are scheduled to be May 11th-22nd. Ideally, they will be the LAST week of school. When planning team excursions we need to consider how this impacts teachers that serve all teams in a grade, or both 6th & 7th graders. EVERYONE is trying to make the most of learning in his/her classes. Let's work together to try and disrupt our days as little as possible.
- Every advisory - please schedule a day during Hero Hour on the last week of school before break to do a locker clean-out, organization and clean-out of BINDERS (personal pet peeve), and do a drive-by of the lost and found. I'm conviced some of these kids have live things growing in their storage spaces.
- Grades will be due and you must RC on Wednesday, January 8th by 3pm. We will send report cards home on Monday, January 13th through advisory.
- We are having a Rising 6th night on January 21st. Please add it to your calendar and make plans to attend.
