Veterans Day Celebrations
This year, Geist Elementary will host its 12th annual Veterans Day program on Wednesday, Nov. 11th at 9:30 in the gym. The choir and 3rd and 4th grade students are busy preparing for this special occasion with songs, writings, and speeches. Please plan to attend!
To honor our Veterans, we are asking all staff and students to wear Red, White and Blue.
We are also having a WRITING CONTEST for all students in the 3rd and 4th grades. Students may write poetry, essays or interviews with a veteran. The topics could include: My Favorite Veteran, Why We Celebrate Veterans Day, Thank you Veterans! or My Interview with a Veteran. The winners of the writing contest will receive a medal and will read their winning entries at our program. They could also invite their special Veteran to come up on stage with them. Please encourage your student to enter this contest!
Geist Elementary supports the Hamilton County Coat Drive
We need your clean coats, mittens, gloves, hats and boots for kids. All sizes- Infants to adults. Place your donated items in boxes at the entrances of GES Nov 2nd thru Nov 6th.
According to the Good Samaritan Network, Hamilton County has at least 18,000 persons who are living below the poverty level. Please help us keep our kids warm and cozy by donating new or gently used coats, mittens, gloves, hats, or boots. Thank you for your contribution.
Each item collected will find a home in Hamilton County. All donations will be distributed at the Nov 7th and 14th coat give-aways. Visit Kidscoats.org for further details and volunteer opportunities.
