Bourchier Mail
School Newsletter - 12th Edition - 4th August 2022
from the principal
Dear Families
We have enjoyed a busy week celebrating the commonwealth games. We have many children aspiring to be Australian athletes.
Athletics
Our year 6 children and teachers conducted our very own Commonwealth Games /Bourchier Games where our children enjoyed heaps of fun as they engaged in several athletic events.
Congrats to Year Six students for displaying their great organisational and leadership skills.
Mathematics
When we link our Mathematics to real life it becomes so much more meaningful. The mathematics involved in a trip to the zoo, building a cubbyhouse or making a cake is numerous and so real. Our mathematics here at school is often around problem solving tasks like these. You are encouraged to take every opportunity around the house to involve your kids in real life mathematics.
Camp
Year Four are off to camp next week and I am sure they will enjoy this experience. Year Three’s camp is towards the end of this term. It is so good that our children have been able to have a second camp and great that it is free!
Excursions
Two year levels have been out and about this week. Year three students ventured to Tatura and Foundation students went on a bush walk. Both year level were investigating the environment. This all fits with this terms Inquiry topic of sustainability. Investigating the outdoors is a fun way to learn!
COVID
Please continue to monitor for COVID and test if your child is symptomatic. We have had several students test positive who have been on site during the past week.
Thanks for your continued support.
Regards
Denise

Reminders
Monitor closely for symptoms. Children must stay home and get tested if showing symptoms. If test positive, isolate for 7 days until negative. Notify the school that your child has tested positive.Test twice a week during school time.
We need everyone healthy and fit so that learning at school can continue. We all know what remote learning is like and we dont want to go back to that.
Please talk to your children about the importance of mask wearing and please send a mask each day to school with your child. Our junior school children are not required to wear a mask but we certainly encourage it if they are comfortable to do so.
If your child is a household contact they must take 5 rapid antigen tests (RATs) over 7 days and receive negative test results and wear a face mask (if over 8 years old) in indoor spaces.
Children who have had COVID do not need to test for 30 days after isolation has ended..
If your child tests positive please register this on COVID Test Portal or call the school to inform us and we will register for you. Please do not register negative results.
Please consider getting your child vaccinated if you have not already done so.
