Global Context Conversation Questions
Your teacher might divide you into small groups or complete this activity as a class.
Global Conversation for All Students:
1. Look at this webpage and discuss what is surprising or concerning.
2. Read this article together and answer/discuss: Why do you think people do not want to take in the orphans caused by ebola? How would you respond if you lived there? What do you think is the responsibility of the citizens who live there?
3. What are some resources we have available to us in the United States that people in developing countries might not have? Think about this especially in regards to what orphans or displaced children might need and not be able to have. Because of our resources, what are our responsibilities as United States citizens? What could/should we do?

Session 1 Activity Information
This Session 1 Activity will have 2 parts: a padlet for reflection and creating cards for United States soldiers who are serving our country.
1. Padlet- Students click on the appropriate link for your grade level and follow the instructions. Discuss the responses as a class.
Level 1 Service as Action Padlet
Level 2 Service as Action Padlet
Level 3 Service as Action Padlet2. Creating cards- Students, use your colored pencils, crayons, etc. to create holiday cards for members of our armed forces for the holidays. In case there is a delay and the soldiers do not get the cards until after the holidays, you could also just create a thank you card or "happy new year" themed card. This is a continuation of our September ERPD morning, when we heard from Mr. Beatty, who talked about Purple Heart Homes. If you still have time left over, think about making a card for someone in your life to brighten their day.
Students: Make sure you sign the card with your first name only or from a "Northview Student."
