Medicine Missing in Middle School
We had an incident today where a middle school student brought Advil to school for an injury and it ended up missing. After taking 1 pill, the other 3 went missing immediately after breakfast. I was notified at approximately 1:15 pm. It is regular strength over-the-counter Advil. We have not determined whether it was misplaced or taken from the student.
This is an important reminder, however, that students should NEVER have medication (prescription or over the counter...or even cough drops) with them at school. All medicine that needs to be administered at school MUST be kept in the front office. If the student is required to take the medication at school, please follow these guidelines:
- The product MUST be brought to the office in the original packaging (dropped off and picked up by the parent/guardian)
- The medicine MUST have a doctor's note/prescription instructions
- The student MUST come to the office to have the medicine administered by the HRRS/JDA staff
If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you!
