This Week at Placerita 2.27.22 / Esta semana en Placerita 2.27.22
Good Evening Placerita Families…
This is week eight of the third quarter and we have three weeks remaining before the end of the term. The month of March is a busy month so we are focusing on all our work for the next few weeks so we can finish the quarter strong. Remind your student(s) that the next Progress Report is a Quarter grade that will go on their Transcript.
Our 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament starts this week so we are looking forward to all the fun that will bring leading up to the big staff game that will take place at the end. Good luck to all our teams participating. I know practices have also started for our World Cup Soccer games this spring too. Have your student check with Mr. Cota if they are interested but have not attended practices.
We begin the Month of March with Women’s HerStory month. We will have lots of information on MMTV celebrating the successes of women in history.
This Friday is our next Student of the Month Celebration. If your student has been selected you will receive a call this week. We will be celebrating at Brunch time this Friday.
Eighth Grade Families
This Thursday, March 3rd at 6:00 PM we will have our High School Panel for 8th grade families in person for the first time in a couple years. If you have an 8th grader we will have a panel of students from Hart that will come to Tanner Hall this Thursday evening and answer a lot of questions about High School. Don’t miss this if you want to know more about what high school life is like.
Next Thursday, March 10th, is the annual “Walk to Hart” that our 8th graders will take to have a good look at all the opportunities where they can get involved and then Hart’s Open House is also that evening as well. Eighth Grade families will also be receiving some emails from Hart about Open House about this if you haven’t received them already.
While the 8th Graders are at Hart we will be having an assembly for our 7th graders at Placerita. We will give you more details about that next week.
That’s it for tonight. Have a great week.
Mr. Turner

Sr. Turner

Students are required to be wearing their IDs all the time they are at school.
There are several reasons that each student is required to wear their IDs during school each day. School Check-in each morning, identification for safety purposes and lunch purchases are a few of the reasons that students will need to have their personal IDs on them at all times just like last year. They will not be required during PE or during time that students are participating in activities where there would be a safety concern like in wood shop.

Hello Placerita Families! We have some very exciting and important news for our community.
The new Student Care Line for Placerita will be broadened to include mental health and wellness concerns. If you are struggling or know someone who is struggling, the Student Care Line will make early intervention possible, allowing for small problems to be handled before they become big problems.
If you are a student, parent, or community member with a concern that needs attention from an administrator at Placerita please text us here. You can send a text message to (661) 282-7522. All text messages received will be forwarded to our former Text-A-Tip line. We now have a new reporting system for our students and their families to use to share a concern about another student's well-being. This reporting system is called the Student Care Line.
Over the last several years, the William S. Hart Union High School District has placed an emphasis on student wellness. Knowing that a student who feels emotionally supported is more successful, the District set out to open Wellness Centers on each of our campuses, with the first of those opening in August of 2019. Now the District is looking to expand this effort even further by taking the existing Text-A-Tip line and re-branding it as the new Student Care Line, providing a more comprehensive function.
Text-A-Tip has been used by students, staff and families to report something out of the ordinary. With the goal being “If you see something, say something"; Text-A-Tip was there to report if someone was wanting to hurt themselves or others, or even if there was the possibility of someone committing a crime.
The new Student Care Line will be broadened to include mental health and wellness concerns. If you are struggling or know someone who is struggling, the Student Care Line will make early intervention possible, allowing for small problems to be handled before they become big problems. Cause for concern might be indicated by:
Trouble controlling emotions
Withdrawal from friends and usual activities
Feelings of rejection or solitude
Feeling constantly disrespected
Frequent loss of temper
Increased risk-taking behavior
Talk of suicide or loss of hope
Self-harm
Declining school performance
Students and families are at their best when their emotional well-being is supported. Please join us in our commitment to this effort by using our Student Care Line when you need it.
