Mask Mandate
Transportation
Per federal mandate, students must wear masks on school buses. Face shields do not meet this mandate, so students must wear a face mask on the bus at all times.
Mask Breaks
Students will have opportunities to take mask breaks. Students do not need to wear masks at lunch or while outside.
Contact Tracing
The Indiana Department of Health mandates contract tracing. Wearing a face covering can greatly reduce the number of students who must quarantine due to being close contacts.
Mask Mandate Exit Strategy
In an effort to provide as much transparency as possible, the district has decided to create and maintain a COVID-19 dashboard. It will provide the building-level case and quarantine information that we provide to the Indiana Department of Health. The dashboard will be posted in each Shamrock Blast with a scheduled start of next week.
In order to determine when and how we will roll back the mask mandate, we will monitor a number of state, county, local and district data. When we are ready to change the plan, we will inform the community as soon as possible. The district will also release a monthly COVID-19 message to keep everyone informed.
No one mitigation measure will solve this problem by itself. Vaccines, masks, social distancing, and hand washing can help. If we all team together and implement these measures, we can reduce the spread of the virus and keep kids in school!

Oak Trace Elementary Adopt-a-School
Cub Scout Pack 129 and Boy Scout Troops 1910 and 1920 recently completed a service project at Oak Trace Elementary School. The PTO provided an amazing assist with the purchase of the dirt used on the field.
The project was completed as a part of the scout council-wide "Adopt-A-School" initiative and as a way to give back to Oak Trace Elementary School. This is the school that the majority of the pack's scouts attend, as well as the primary venue for the pack's meetings. It is important to the pack and troops that we give back to the school!
The project revitalized the baseball diamond by picking up trash and debris, pulling weeds from the infield and dugouts, spreading a layer of dirt over the dugouts and infield and fixing divots, and minor fence repair to the backstop. The scouts and troops did an amazing job!

Apply for Financial Assistance
Even though school lunches are free to all students, to receive financial assistance for curricular materials (Chromebooks, textbooks, workbooks, classroom novels, online resources, and supplies like science lab chemicals, and art supplies) families still need to apply to the free and reduced program.
The application must be completed online. If you need access to a computer or assistance filling it out, please contact Gladys Salas at Central Office at 317-867-8002.
If you do not qualify for the free and reduced program, there are payment plans designed to help parents pay their student(s) fees in smaller amounts.
