After a wintry last few weeks, we are looking forward to a warmer March full of new activities! Spring sports will be starting soon, and we are excited to get out and active this month!

RHS News and Events

RHS Volleyball Lock-In

RHS is happy to announce the Volleyball Lock-In is coming back this year. It will take place March 11th-12th from 10pm to 6am. The tickets will be sold during lunch waves from 3/1-3/8. You must fill out a permission form and meet the following requirements to participate:

  • Put together a team of 6-8 students and come up with a team name and uniform
  • Co-Ed teams must be gender balanced

Need Team T-Shirts?

We have a Cricut machine and some available iron-on vinyl in the Makerspace! Bring in your t-shirts and create your own team shirt for the Volleyball Lock-In! Sign up in the LMC for a time to use the supplies and ask Mrs. G if you have any questions.

School Murder Mystery

The 15th Annual RHS Murder Mystery is March 31st and April 1st at 7 p.m. in the auditorium, and this year the unfortunate victim is...Comedy! Completely student-written and student-performed, the murder mystery is sure to generate a laugh or two, and proceeds from the production will fund author visits, writing conferences, writing scholarships for many talented RHS students.

New England Air Museum Trip

Attention juniors and seniors: The career center is sponsoring a trip to the New England Air Museum for their annual “Inspiring Future Aviators Career Day” on Thursday, April 7th from 8:30 to 1:45. See Mrs. Kasek or your tech ed teachers for a permission slip.

Symphony Band Concert

The RHS Symphony Band will be holding a concert on March 15th at 7pm. We will feature a theme of marches (fitting for the month of March) and some truly captivating pieces of music. Come out and support the band!

Student Celebrations

UConn ECE Wallace Stevens Poetry Contest

Congratulations to Kaylin Maher who is the first place winner of UConn's ECE Wallace Stevens Poetry contest. She will receive a $500.00 cash award and will be reading from her winning poetry packet at the 57th Wallace Stevens Poetry Program featuring acclaimed poet D. A. Powell, on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at 6:00 pm.

Math Team

Rockville High School competed in the Capitol Area Mathematics League (CAML) Math Team competition with other high schools all around the state. Students from all grade levels learned new mathematical concepts, brushed up on previously learned skills, and applied their knowledge to earn points for RHS during the 5 competitions. This year’s MVP was junior Lillian Westerberg scoring the most points for our A Team. Congrats to all competing Mathletes this year!

Youth Equity Squad

RHS YES (Youth Equity Squad) is on a mission! All YES meetings and initiatives are designed to build culture, celebrate diversity, and promote equitable change at RHS. Within YES, student members find a place to belong without judgment. Recently, YES has been discussing what it means to create a brave space together. Their goal is to publish a podcast for RHS called Everyday Equity where those who are unheard can be seen and supported. YES is working hard to build opportunities for students at RHS to use their voices for positive, equitable change at RHS. Stay tuned!

Breakout Edu in Math

Students in Mrs. Malinak’s and Mrs. Kennedy’s Math Classes took on the Challenge of PYTHAGORAS'S MYSTERIOUS BOX! The Breakout EDU game was done in the Library Media Center on February 24th. Students worked together in small groups and used their math skills to break into the box and solve the mystery!

Winter Sports News

Our girls and boys basketball teams have qualified for the state tournament!

The girls played Pomperaug on 3/1.

The boys will play Platt Tech on 3/7 at 6:30 pm.

RHS Unified News

Polar Plunge: The Rockville High School Unified team is going to be plunging on March 26th at Crandall Lake in Tolland. We are looking for brave soles to plunge with us.

We’re FREEZIN' FOR A REASON and that reason is Special Olympics Connecticut!

Special Olympics Connecticut provides opportunities to more than 12,000 athletes and Unified Sports® partners to train and compete in 27 Olympic-type sports and participate in four annual state games.

Come join us in our fundraising efforts to support the mission of Special Olympics Connecticut! There are two ways to join in on our fun: join our team, helps us to raise funds, and plunge with us in person! Or you join our team, raise funds, and "plunge with us" virtually!

Home Game: On March 10th the Rockville Unified team will be holding its last home game. This is the first time Rockville will host the NCCC tournament. We are looking for fans to come support the Unified team. Hope to see you there.

Red Robin Fundraiser: We are holding a fundraiser at Red Robin on Monday, March 21 (Down Syndrome Day). This is a PD day so students are off. The fundraiser will be from 4-8PM. It is a great social opportunity for everyone! Please look for the flyer to bring to have part of your bill donated to Unified sports. We will also have flyers and coupons available at the restaurant.


The ASTE Department and FFA Members invited all staff to a lunch catered by Rein's Deli on Monday, February 28 during all lunch waves. This lunch was to show appreciation of the support of our program and to celebrate FFA week.

Community Events

Magic: The Gathering

If you are interested in a new hobby that will help you make friends and challenge your critical thinking skills, there is a new Magic: The Gathering league just for high school students at Most Excellent Gaming and Collectibles in Manchester! Included in the $15 entry is everything you need to play: the cards, a deck box and sleeves. It starts on March 5 and will last until April 23. You can play every week or whenever you want. If you don't make it on the first day, that's ok too! Ask Mrs. Schlett for details!

Vernon Parks and Recreation is Hiring

The Vernon Parks and Recreation Department is looking for new employees. They are interested in people looking to engage in:
