Tisch's Tidbits
Fitness Gram
In November, students in grades K-4 participated in fitness testing through Witham. This week, you should be receiving your child's individual results in a sealed envelope. These results were sent to use already sealed so that we do not see any individual testing, only school-wide results. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Witham using the contact information provided in this report. We were happy to be able to offer this service to families and to the Boone County Health department.
Lunch
We encourage families to check the Food Services website to view the new look of the 2016 Second Semester menu.
Changes will begin on January 4, 2016.
The most important things to note are:
- You will see different letters at the end of some item selections. Those letters denote any allergens in that product. The legend for each allergen is at the bottom of the page of the new menu.
- There will be fewer main entrée selections this semester.
- On a daily basis the student’s options will be the “Hot Lunch”, Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich or Bagel & Yogurt with String Cheese.
- One of three additional entrée options will be available per week and will be on a three week rotation.
- Week 1 (January 4-8): Turkey Sub
- Week 2 (January 11-15): Chef Salad
- Week 3 (January 18 – 22): Grilled Cheese
- Week 4 (January 25-29): Turkey Sub

Our Annual Union Soiree
Friday, February 26, 2016
Woodland Country Club of Carmel
Parents, information will be coming home about donations for “grade level” baskets. We hope you can help us raise additional funding at the Union Soiree. We promise to keep it simple: sign up online, send the item to school with your child and we’ll make it look pretty along with the rest of the grade goodies. We will have 5 AWESOME baskets for the silent auction with fun themes for your families!
In addition, we are seeking any other items/experiences that you might have access to (tickets, autographed items, gift certificates, etc.,…). Please remember that all donations are tax deductible and whatever we raise goes to help our kids (new Chromebooks, additional fieldtrips, class projects, etc.,..)
Thanks SOOO much for your help!
Please feel free to contact Tamra Craig with any questions or if you have something (in addition to class baskets) to donate. tamrakay@hotmail.com
Goodwill
Be sure to tell the attendant to count your clothing donation for the Zionsville Educational Services Center. For every 13-gallon bag of clothing donated, the ESC will receive a $5 Goodwill clothing voucher to distribute to families in need, so that they can shop for free. Vouchers earned will go to ZCS guidance departments.
Reminder: This is for clothing donations only. You can donate other items, but only the clothing will count toward our total.
Please feel free to pass this along to family and friends! You can take clothing to ANYGoodwill and tell them it is for the Zionsville Educational Services Center.
NWEA
The kids have done an amazing job with NWEA! We have finished all 3 sessions and are just working on finishing up those tests in which the kiddos did not complete.
PTO Meeting
The PTO General meeting on January 13th is an evening meeting at 7:00 pm. Childcare will be available. We will be joined by a Guest Speaker who is a certified family counselor. They will be giving us an introduction about Mindful Meditation. Research has shown meditation to help humans engage their ‘calm and connect’ brain in a fast paced, often stressful world, as well as to assist in lowering blood pressure and managing chronic pain, whether the pain is physical or emotional. This is an introduction in an informal, playful setting that simply affords participants to take a break and just breathe. We hope to see you there!
Union Express
Union Express is up and running. Remember, your mail will not be delivered without the proper address and stamp. If you need to print a stamp from home they can be found on the PTO link under Union Express as well as the full addresses.
Reminder
No school on Monday!
Have a great week. :)
