Message from the Superintendent
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we enter the winter months, calls for early dismissals, two-hour delays, or school closures may need to be made. Announcements will be provided through Blackboard messages, the district website, Twitter, Facebook, and local media sources. Initially, snow make-up days will be handled in the traditional manner and school will be closed. Prescheduled inclement days that are built into the school calendar will be utilized to make up those days.
If for some reason we have an excessive number of snow days and we have exhausted all of the available make-up days, we will consider Flexible Instruction Days (FIDs) on inclement weather days instead of traditional snow days or add days to the end of the school year.
If a FID day is used, students will work remotely rather than coming to school to complete their studies. Therefore, they will not need to add make-up days at the end of the school year in June. This will only be considered in an extreme circumstance and parents will be properly notified of this consideration in advance.

Children’s Grief Awareness Day
This week we recognized Children's Grief Awareness Day, and this year’s theme was Lend a Hand. To show our support for students who have lost someone special in their life, the District worked together on a Lend a Hand activity. Each student in elementary, middle, and high school got a cut-out hand, and on this cut-out hand, students chose to draw or write a way they can show support to a friend who is grieving. We then collected these hands and displayed them as a wall of support for our grieving students.
The District dress down for Children’s Grief Awareness Day to collect money for the Caring Place was initiated by Betsy Fox at EPE. The District-wide student activity to recognize Children’s Grief Awareness Day was developed and led by Heather Goins at EPE & WCH, and by Judy Zemanek, one of our district social workers through the CAIU.
Thank you to our students and staff across the District for participating in this important project!

Band Director Award
We are proud to share that Mr. Coleman Lidle was voted the Best Band Director at the Cumberland Valley High School Marching Band Competition!
From Mr. Lidle: I am so honored to have been voted to this title again by the students, families, and spectators. This year has been a roller coaster of emotions for us as a staff as we begin rebuilding this program back to its previous glory. These students have been extremely resilient and patient as we continue to grow this program. I am thankful to be along for the journey and have so much support from the school, the administration, our families, and the students involved.
Congratulations to Mr. Coleman Lidle!
