February
January was full of activities. We had our first PTO movie night, had our science fair projects judged by the Travis County Sheriff's Department, got our groove on with dads in the gym, celebrated 100 days of school and participated in the PfISD UIL event this past Saturday. Thank you to the parents who spent Saturday with us at the UIL event. Our students did a great job. I was most impressed with their positive attitudes and true enjoyment of the event.
Please make time to attend our math and science night this week! There will be family activities, science fair projects on display and science experiments to watch! PTO will be selling snacks. It will be fun!
Remember to follow is on Facebook, sign up for Remind messages and always look at our school website. Stay informed. Stay involved. We appreciate you!
Respectfully,
Carolyn Parker

More details are available at: https://www.youngpoets.org/for-educators.html
Electronic submission form is at: https://www.youngpoets.org/educators.html
The library has a copy of the 2018 Poetry Digest if you’d like to take a look. If you need additional information, feel free to email the organization at: info@youngpoets.org
Just a reminder that parent check out is available on Mondays from 3:15 to 3:45. We have a nice selection of books (in English, Spanish and bilingual) and games available. Parents may check out a total of four items at a time, including two games for some family fun!
What a great turnout we had at our last PTO meeting! At that meeting we were able to vote in our new secretary and treasurer, solidify plans for movie night and start planning our school dance on Thursday, Feb 27.
Stay tuned for information on our next PTO meeting and school dance.
Attendance
In an effort to help students understand the importance of coming to school each day our PTO is offering some incentives to help get them excited. For the month of February, every student who comes to school everyday, on time, will have their name entered in a drawing to win a free bike!
Also, since our PK students are experiencing some challenges, PTO is offering a separate prize that will keep them excited about being at school everyday on time! Parents, remember that once you enroll your student in PK, state compulsory attendance laws apply.
Thank you PTO for understanding how important strong school attendance is for our collective success!
