Message from the Principal
Cougar Community
I first want to thank our students and staff in the manner they reacted in our lockdown. I also want to thank the community for the love and support they showed CMS immediately after the event. Be on the lookout for communication from NJHS. We also want to support PCSO.
I am one lucky principal.
Celebrations
*Shout out to our sports teams. Girl’s Basketball is ranked #2 in the division and Flag Football is ranked #1 in the division.
*Shout out to Logan Friday who took first place in our district spelling bee.
Help.
I am a firm believer that we are partners in your students' education.
So partner, I need your help. I need your support.
Bathroom. We are going to have to tighten up on bathrooms. Students are making inappropriate decisions and abusing their bathroom privileges. If your student has a medical condition that requires frequent use of the bathroom, please email the health assistant and or myself. Otherwise, we will expect students to use the bathroom between one or all of the 8 passing periods (4 minutes between classes) or during their 30 minute lunch. Of course, if there is an emergency we will accommodate students.
Donations
I rarely ask for support but if you are in a position to donate we would love the following items
~ Snacks for our PBIS store. This is the student store where students get to spend their hard earned points on snacks, water bottles, stationary, stickers, all things middle school for positive behavior. Teachers, counselors and admin have been supplying the store all year. (taki’s, anything hot, gatorade, chips, kool aid pouches and candy, are popular items)
~ Gift cards. Students and Teachers can also earn prizes for going above and beyond. $5.00 gift cards to Starbucks, Dutch Bros, McDonalds, and Burger King would be great. I will not stop you if you want to ball out and do larger amounts or bigger restaurants.
Last but not least. Reminder #22
Pajamas are not school clothes. Students will be dressed coded and you will be asked to bring a change of clothes.
Cell phones will be sent to the front office for parent pickup if your child makes a decision to use it other than lunch.
It still counts even if they are texting and talking to you.
It still counts if they are checking the time. (although there are clocks in class and on their devices)
It still counts if they are putting it away.
You do not get to blame me but you do get to blame your student for not following the rules that have been the same since … ALL YEAR.
School Valentine Day Dance will be Friday February 10th. 6pm-8pm
Thank you in advance for the patience you will need during after dance pick up.
Computers. Please check the devices. We have noticed some disrespect toward the devices. They are removing keys and vandalism. If you did not purchase insurance you will be responsible for the damages. (insurance does not cover all damages, especially intentional damage.
Love,
Principal Ridge

Schedule change request
With the new semester fast approaching, we anticipate many questions regarding schedule changes. Please understand that we do the best we can to provide your child with the electives they chose but sometimes this is not possible. Schedule change requests will only be accepted under the following circumstances:
There is a system error (i.e. a male student gets put into a female PE class, a student receives 2 science classes, etc.)
The administrative team requests a schedule change which reflects the best interest for a student or group of students.
The Counseling team will not accept schedule change requests for the following reasons:
Students want to change an elective class
Students want to change teachers
Transitions
As of February 1st, we are officially finished with what we like to call “Transition Season”. It was so exciting to see the students prepare for the year ahead. If anyone has any questions or concerns regarding your students' Course Request Form for middle school or high school, please feel free to reach out to any member of the counseling team and we will be happy to assist.
SEL In The Classroom:
During the months of December and January, the Counseling Department had to take a brief pause on our SEL in the Classroom. We hope to be able to rejoin our students in February now that transitions have passed. We are so excited to be back in the classroom with your kiddos!
Athletics
Parents & Guardians,
3rd quarter sports are off to a great start. Flag football is undefeated and sits as the top seed in our division. Girls' basketball is ranked 3rd with a 3-2 record. Both teams are competing hard and improving each day. Please come and support both our teams throughout the remainder of the season. You can find the schedules on our school website under the athletic tab.
If you have any questions feel free to reach me by email or phone.
Thanks,
Mr. Clark
