Important Technology Use Questionnaire
Subject: Deadline Approaching: Technology Use Questionnaire
We included information last week about our partnership with BrightBytes, an educational research organization. Coppell ISD is asking for your input (through a Technology & Learning questionnaire) to learn more about our students’ school and home technology use for learning. Your participation is essential in helping us form a more complete picture of technology use for learning in our students’ lives. Please know that all of your responses will remain anonymous to protect your privacy. This is a national survey that allows us to compare data sets at the regional, state and national levels. Surveys will be conducted each year in the fall and spring.
The questionnaire will close Friday, April 28th. This survey will take you approximately 5 minutes to complete. If you haven’t already done so, please
follow this link to our specific campus questionnaire:www.BByt.es/R777P
(Note: if you also have children at other campuses, that means you will need to complete multiple surveys. You will receive an email from those principals with their campus specific questionnaire link.)
Thank you for your time.
News you can use:
From Ms. McBride
The month of May, guidance lessons will be focusing on personal safety, setting boundaries and recognizing trusted adults that can help. I have included some parental talking points. Giving students knowledge is empowering and helps them to make safe decisions.
Talking to children about Personal Safety
How to talk to Children:
- Create a comfortable environment so it’s easy for a child to talk to you
- Use a calm voice
- Practice what you want to say
- Talk to your child every day and do check-ins over dinner or at the bedtime- listen to them.
- Tell children that their bodies are their own- no one else has a right to touch or hurt them.
- Enforce that NO, GO and TELL are ways to enforce safety.
- Talk about safe and unsafe touches.
- Encourage children to trust their feelings. Touches that make them feel uncomfortable are probably unsafe.
- Use anatomically correct words for private parts to help children develop a dignified vocabulary for parts of the body.
- Teach children that touching safety rules apply all the time, not just with strangers.
- Stress that uncomfortable secrets should be told to a trusted adult.
- Help create a support system for you child – make a list of people they can trust besides you.
- Monitor and have conversations about their social media boundaries.
Field Day and Volunteers
Field Day will take place on May 19th and we will need several volunteers for this fun event. In anticipation of this great day (and any other Volunteering Opportunities) please take a minute to complete the Volunteer Background Check Form. Background checks must be completed every year. Thank you!
