Whitney Families,
I want to say thank you to all of our Whitney Families and Students for making the start of the school year a success. Please make sure you are connected to ParentSquare so that you receive all communications and can communicate with your child's teacher. We will provide a monthly newsletter on Smore to keep you informed about upcoming events and important information. We are always here to help and support you. If you need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us on ParentSquare, Email, or by phone at 573-1900. We are happy to be on this journey together with you! Parking Lot Etiquette and Procedures
Parents, we kindly remind everyone of pick up/drop off etiquette. Please be patient and respectful as you pick up and drop off your child.
Please also remember that we have children demonstrating leadership in safety patrol positions. At times patrol students or staff may ask you to follow certain rules you may not agree with. Please do not take it personal. They are doing their jobs. Our goal is to keep you, your children, and everyone safe. Thank you for understanding.
If you do not agree with a procedure, please reach out to a building administrator before addressing staff or a patrol student. All of our schools in the district have procedures, protocol, and specific ways the parking lots function based on their designs and safety plans. If you have a question, feel free to contact us via ParentSquare, phone or email.
BASIC REMINDERS FOUND BELOW:
Driving in our Parking Lot
Please remember to drive with caution as you enter and exit our school parking lots. The traffic flow at all schools is slow and that is the safest for our kids.
We have many children and families crossing the streets around our school campus. Please try not to be in a hurry when dropping off and picking up your children.
*You must slow down and drive with caution.
Drop off
Students should NOT be dropped off earlier than 8:15. We do not have supervision before this time.
Crosswalks
Please also remember to always use the crosswalks. It becomes unsafe when children and parents walk in and out of cars in the parking lot. The crosswalks are the safest areas to use when walking in the parking lot.
No Unattended Vehicles in the Drop Off Lanes
Please remember, there is no parking in the pick up/drop off lane, so please pull all the way up to the front of the drop off lane (by the front of the school), pick up/drop off your child (parents/drivers need to stay in the car) and then you may keep moving.
Remember that both lanes turn right as you leave the parking lot
Walking (Flagpole Pickup)
If you walk to pick up your child, you must wait in the grass area by the flag pole behind the cones and plastic chain. Do not block the sidewalk. If you see your child come out please notify a nearby staff member and wait patiently for your child to come to you.
Wilson Walkers
Sign up for Wilson Walkers is now full. If you are picking up at Wilson please get out of your vehicle and meet your child near the gate. It becomes unsafe when children are walk in and out of cars in the parking lot without an adult present.
Kindergarten Parking Lot
This parking lot is designated for parents of Kindergarteners and other parents that have permission to park in this area. If you are not the parent of a kindergartener or do not have permission to use this area please be respectful and wait in the pickup line.
Thank you for helping to keep everyone safe.
